          With a heavy heart, she walked to the bed and reached for the pile of clothing waiting to be packed. Clothes they wouldn’t need. Each item rang like a death knell in her head as she neatly folded and dropped it in the bag. She had even bought food for the two-week journey. Food they would never taste. All a ruse to keep up appearances and deflect attention from what they really planned to do— had to do. Maeve stilled and sat on the edge of the bed. Moisture pooled in her eyes and her fingers buried themselves in the sweater she held. Unbeknownst to Conor, she had gone against his wishes. , broken his main cardinal rule. But she hadn’t been able to help herself. Compelled by a mother’s love, she had written a letter to Trevor and hidden it in a place where she knew only he would find it. Maybe one day he would. She tossed the sweater in the bag, wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, and continued with packing. Maybe one day he would understand why and find it in him to forgive them.

          Their life had flourished around Trevor. He was everything to them— and he would continue to be everything to them, even when they were not there to cherish and capture more of those moments with him. She only hoped he would never doubt their love for him. Taking a deep breath, she settled into her reading chair to wait for Conor.

 

 

REVIEW:

Conor and Maeve had been married for a very long time and they loved their life in Dublin, Ireland. All of this was about to change forever. They agreed that the change was best for their son Trevor, but they could not ignore the pain that decision would cause.

Cecilia Aubrey and Chris Almeida have made a terrific pair of authors with this intriguing start to their series. Readers will hopefully be fascinated and apprehensive when they have to figure out what the motive is. What caused such a drastic decision from the main characters? Even though this is a short story (pages-wise), the main characters were developed enough that the readers can relate to the character’s inner conflicts. I just LOVED this prequel. It did not give too much away but instead it left me wanting to read the next book to find out what happens next.

I thoroughly appreciated reading this prequel into what is ahead in the series. Based off this short story, I have great hopes that this series will be an exhilarating and thrilling romance. I am eagerly waiting to read the next book…

 I would not give this a very hot point on the erotic scale because it is a very short story. I would recommend this book to 18+ people who are into romantic suspense AND is looking to start a new series. This one DOES need to be read before the next one. This is definitely a prequel.
