Obviously, as this is our first week participating in Top Ten Tuesday, I chose a topic we missed. Now, both Harlie and I love reading yet no two people always read in the same place, all the time. Winter is my favorite time or dark and dreary days. Of course, there is a lot to be said for cooling off while reading as well. In any case, these are some of our favorite cozy places to read, just in case you were looking for a new one!
In Bed – Harlie and I both agree, reading in bed is awesome! This has long been my favorite but since getting married, I have been unable to do so as it keeps the Hubs awake. Enter the Nook! Now I am able to read here to my heart’s content!
Lounging in a Lounge Chair – There is something entirely decadent about reading in a lounge chair. Sit back, put your feet up, get comfy…now we just need Jean-Paul to come rub our feet and feed us grapes!
In a Hammock – Harlie loves this. I mean, what could be more relaxing that swaying in the breeze while catching up with your favorite characters and sipping a nice cold iced tea? (This IS Texas, you know 😉
Cuddled Up Next to Your Child Who is Reading – One thing that does a mama’s heart proud is when her little one learns to read. Snuggling up together while they read to you instead of the other way around can have both these mamas smiling from ear to ear.
Planes, Trains, and Cruise Ships – This is me. First off, I love to travel. Second, reading is a fabulous way to pass the time when there is minimal scenery. Above all, the anonymity you have when you travel – especially alone – is very freeing and reading lets me be right in the middle of the storyline with the characters, where I love to be.
In My Car – I love to read in my car, either when the Hubs is driving or when I have stopped somewhere and am all alone. Ahh the peace and serenity is awesome! Best place I ever did that? Lake Yellowstone in Wyoming. I had the windows down, the birds were singing and the breeze was blowing. Perfect!
On the Sofa – When on the sofa, I love to curl up in the corner and get set for the long haul. Winter time brings a soft blanket out along with some hot cocoa. Summer time means the fan is on and I have an ice-cold glass of water with the sweat dripping off us both!
On My Computer, In My Office – I have a pretty nice set up for my office – it is called my bedroom. lol However, I have a great 6′ table with two monitors and plenty of room to spread out. And my chair? Not bad for a ‘work’ chair. I never used to understand how people could read books on their computer but now I sooooo get it. It is like having a large print (and since I have a wireless laptop) portable book so office, family room or bed, I am good to go!
On Vacation – I love to read when I am on vacation. It almost isn’t a vacation without it. I guess it usually because of less pressure and fewer demands on my time plus reading for me, is a break. A break from reality usually!
The Great Outdoors – I always picture Bella throwing a quilt down on the lawn and laying down to read. How awesome would that be (as long as no scary Vamps are lurking in the woods nearby)? Here in Tx, uh, yeah, that doesn’t happen but a girl can dream, right?

I like to read in my car too! I used to have to get to work early to park and I would sit and read every day until it was time to head to my office. It’s kind of peaceful!
