The Vampire’s Gallery by Antoinette M. – Review

Unlucky. Unloved. And now undead.
Maria hasn’t been touched in years and sustains herself on her friends’ sexual encounters. She’s coerced into trying out internet dating, and she soon attracts the attention of a stud named Jamie. When he invites her out for a beer, she accepts, her mind focused on the one thing she wants—a warm body pressed against hers. Jamie makes her laugh and she invites him in, never guessing that he’s doesn’t want to bed her, but drink her.
The Vampire’s Gallery follows Maria as she leaves one life of dull city apartments for another of sex, sensation, and blood. She rattles the stilted hierarchy of Jamie’s home when she makes the ancient, distant vampire feel again.
But what about the vampires that surround Jamie? Who are her enemies, who are her friends, and who’s just pretending?
Warning: This book contains sanguine vampire seductions, M/F/M scenes, waltzing, and light bondage.
Review:
As much as I enjoyed getting to know Jamie and Maria, the book has a whole left me somewhat confused.  I’ll explain.
The Good:  Jamie and Maria.  They were fleshed out characters that I came to know and love.  Jamie was on quest to “drink” Maria, not make her his consort with his family.  His conflicting emotions and then his passiveness at his house were well done.  Shoot, Maria just wanted to get laid, not worry about her next blood meal.  She was a hoot when it came right down to it.  She was confused by what was happening to her and it was a nice touch when she called her family to let them know she was fine and then blurted out that they would see her at church.
The Confusing Part:  I didn’t understand the hierarchy at the mansion.  The secondary characters were interesting but not truly fleshed out for my taste.  I only got glimpses and I hope that Ms. Antoinette plans a sequel so I can decide if I like them or not.  Plus, without the hierarchy, their was virtual no world building.  Don’t get me wrong, we get Jamie’s back story but nothing else.
Sex Scenes:  There a lot of them and they are erotic.  There is one scene of m/f/m and its nicely done, too.  Ms. Antoinette doesn’t shy away for the scenes and they are emotional.  A couple of them are downright OMG in the end and yes, you have to read the book to know which one I’m talking about.  🙂
Overall:  I liked the book but I’m hoping that there is a sequel so I can get more of Jamie, Maria and their world.  Oh…the notes…left me hanging.
