You would not believe the trouble I had deciding what book I wanted to share with you in talking about sexy settings. See, I read a lot of spicy books. Really spicy books. But there is a difference between hot ‘n spicy and sexy. It finally came down to two books that I will never forget, largely due to the sexy setting and environment the Hero and Heroine were in.
The first one that comes to mind is without a doubt, the third book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series – that’s right, Z’s book, Lover Unbound. 
So what exactly made it stand out in my mind so much? I mean, all of the BDB books take place in approximately the same environment, right? Well, I decided it was not only that Z saved Bella physically (more than once) but all of that time they spent closed up in Z’s room. They were basically alone and both had to completely step outside of their comfort zones so he could save her and she could save him right back. The physical trappings were not important. It was that they were closed off from the rest of the World and they rescued one another. Stunning and sexy.
The other book that came to mind was a book I read and fell head over heels in love with recently – Predator’s Kiss by Rosanna Leo. In this Paranormal Bear Shifter book, I discovered that although the two books are both Paranormal, they have little in common. However, they had the almost exact same important things: The characters were basically alone for large amounts of time and both the Hero and Heroine had to step beyond their comfort zones to save one another. To me that is what makes one incredibly sexy background and setting. Rawr!

I love when they are stuck together and are practically forced to deal with feelings/sexual tension. (Similar to the one you stated) One of my favorites is Tempted by Elisabeth Naughton. The H/h are stuck on an island with a ton of danger where he has to keep saving her. 🙂
I have read ones where they are stuck in caves, basements, underground tunnels, etc. It never gets old to me.

It really depends on the characters and the situation. KA Mitchell’s opening sex scene takes place in an ambulance, and the frenzied, cramped atmosphere (plus the obvious taboo) really sets the tone. On the other hand, one of the most beloved scenes for me is in a very ordinary setting: when Dante and Griff end up on Dante’s couch in HOT HEAD, the familiarity and unfamiliarity bump up in really touching and sexy ways!

You hit the nail on the head with Z’s book! Any place, even the kitchen, can make for a sexy setting if the depth of emotion between the characters can be felt by the reader also.

It has to be intimate and out of the ordinary. Like in my current read, Arctic Prison, there is a great scene that takes place in Disney World. It actually is very sweet and tasteful, but still sexy as all get out.
I always forget this.

The sexiest scene to me would be on the shore by the ocean at night, with the moonlight shimmering off dampened skin, and the chance of getting caught by people taking nighttime strolls along the beach. kbinmich@yahoo.com
