Let the game of seduction begin…
Veronica Whitfield feels like a frumpy old maid. After ten years of raising her younger siblings, she’s desperate to get her sexy back. And why not find it with the man she’s been in lust with since she was twelve years old—her brother’s best friend, Finn O’Reilly?
Finn is looking for love. And not any love—true love. Complete with the white picket fence, two children, and a dog. He’s just been a little unlucky finding it, and he sure as hell isn’t about to consider his best friend’s little sister for the job, no matter how badly he wants her in his bed.
But then Veronica propositions him with a game of dark, delicious seduction. Finn is tempted to indulge his hidden need for kink, but at what cost? Following through could very well ruin their friendship, but maybe—just maybe—helping Veronica rediscover her sexy side is exactly what he needs to find love at last…
My, my, my this book is hawt! Yes, its erotic but not porn erotic. I will admit that I don’t read much Brazen. *hangs head* But I couldn’t resist the friends to lovers trope when I read the blurb. I am so glad that I did. This book has it all. A sweet romance that builds, hawt smexy times and family issues that you can relate to.
The opening scenes are the book are fantastic. Madison is a great secondary character and every girl needs someone like her as a friend. Someone somewhat wild but also there to lend a shoulder. Someone else I liked was Cal, Veronica’s brother. Yes, he’s a teenager but a necessary element in Veronica’s growth as a character. He’s messy but when he reveals to Finn his true emotions, I just wanted to hug him and tell him that everything will be okay.
Veronica and Finn have been friends since they were children courtesy of being the foster care system. They have always been there for each other and now that they are older, Veronica needs help in finally being able to be free and single after raising her half siblings. Finn’s not so sure. Does he piss off his best friend, just to indulge in a few kink sessions with Veronica? You know what I loved about Veronica and Finn the most: their honesty with what they both wanted from each other…in the beginning. I loved how they both were willing to challenge each other in wanting the same thing. The baby scenes…perfect!
While I was reading the book though, I got a little lost. This is my first Madewood Brothers novel so I was trying to keep all the secondary characters in line. It reads as a stand alone but I will definitely be checking out the others. Plus, bring on Cole and Penn’s book. Talk about two people that needed to get together.
In the end, I really loved Finn and Veronica. They both still have scars from being in the foster care system but in the end, it is what has shaped them as individuals and ultimately a couple. Sometimes it does take a messy teenager to put everything into perspective.
Warning: the sex is hawt. Spankings, light bondage, a chef that uses his tools, a woman not afraid of anything and some dirty talk. Again, its erotic but not nasty, porn erotic. Each scene shows character and emotional growth. There’s a point and that’s what I truly loved about the book.
