On the proverbial run from another failed relationship, Morgan finds herself in the one place she always found solace. With every intention of being alone, she’s surprised when she comes across the one person she never expected.Luke would go to the ends of the earth to figure out why Morgan ran away five years ago and make things right with her. However, a dangerous trek up the mountains to her family’s cabin might not have been the smartest choice. To say she was happy to see him would be a huge lie.  Having to rescue him, mortifying for Luke.Toss a kidnapper into the mix and their feelings for each other are brought into perspective, revealing parts of themselves they never thought would come to light.
reviewI just love this series but don’t worry, you don’t need to read it from the beginning to know Morgan or Luke.  It’s a stand alone that does talk about other characters but you aren’t lost.  In fact, I think Luke is my favorite hero from the series now.
He’s funny, sexy, confused (for good reason) and doesn’t back down from what he wants.  Especially Morgan.  He’s not Alpha, just confident and confused about something that happened long ago.  He really shined with Morgan’s brother Tyler.  He didn’t back down from him either.  Love a confident hero.
Morgan, on the other hand, drove me nuts at times.  Especially in the beginning.  She came across as too hard for me but slowly warmed up for me after a certain scene.  😉  But I will say that there was one scene that left me squimish.  I still shudder after reading it.  But that was the wall breaker for me in regards to Morgan.
Another thing about the novella is that Ms. Ames used the second chance trope very well.  In just a few short scenes we got their back story, why the breakup, and the buildup for the big climax scene.  I’m in awe when an author can do that in just a few short scenes.  She doesn’t draw it out for pages and pages.  Short, sweet and to the point.  🙂
Other reasons to give this book a chance is the little bit of suspense that just is the cherry on top for the story.  Margie, Margie, Margie.  Good lawd…what a weirdo.  I’ve been told that there might be more of her.  *evil laugh*  Plus, the sex is behind closed doors.  I know, right?  But it doesn’t need it.
If you are looking for a well written, character driven novella with a touch of suspense than look no further than Morgan’s Mountain.  Of course, I need Tyler’s story.  *sigh*
