Blurb: Can her love melt this CEO’s heart?

No-nonsense physical therapist Gwen Radley has scraped for everything she has, so she surprises even herself when she gives into the advances of a sexy ex-patient the night before he returns to Afghanistan. Then she learns she’s pregnant, just as the news arrives that her soldier has died.

Grieving over his brother’s death, billionaire Carter Anderson questions Gwen’s motives when he accidentally learns about her pregnancy. In his experience, women can’t be trusted, so he doubts Gwen’s insistence she has not interest in his family empire – especially after she moves in with his mother. When her therapy expertise has them collaborating on a lucrative business project, Carter sees her in a new light. But his suspicions persist, leading them both to wonder if he will ever embrace his brother’s baby – or the love that’s blooming between them.

bookreview
Dear Lea,

I love you!  As most know, I love category romance.  My blog and pen name reflect that and I’m not ashamed to admit my love.  When making my selection of my Indulgence review book, your’s caught my eye.  I loved the blurb, the cover (Oh my) and I just had to find out how big of jerk Carter is in the beginning and to see if Gwen could take him down a notch or two.

You did not disappoint.  Honestly, I didn’t fully like Carter until the very end of the book.  Sure there were snippets of him being human here and there.  But then his ego and his past love life would get in the way and BOMB…he’s a jerk.  But that’s what I loved about him.  You made him human with emotional issues, family issues and most importantly, trust issues when it came to a woman.  I wasn’t supposed to like him and I didn’t.  Did it make me want to stop reading the book?  Of course, but I just had to find out how it would play out in the end.  🙂

Gwen was one tough cookie.  I adored her from the beginning and while reading her back story, I didn’t cry or say “Oh poor Gwen”.  No, I embraced her even more because she never backed down and she had the backbone to stand up to Carter when he needed it.  Watching her with Carter’s father did bring a tear to my eyes.  Those were such sweet scenes and it just furthered my admiration of her and what her job entail in and out of Walter Reed.  Which by the way…her best friend was a hoot.  While you could have made Gwen a doormat, you didn’t and while she didn’t have the most growth in the book, she didn’t need it.  She knew who she was and never backed down.

Watching Carter and Gwen fall in love was slow and deliberate.  She didn’t love his brother but I loved how you wrote him in the book.  In fact, his reasoning for having sex with Gwen and coming by to see Carter before his last tour…now, that brought tears to my eyes.  Beautifully written and poignant.  Plus, the grief and then joy that Carter’s parents had losing a son and then knowing that he had fathered a child…sigh.  I loved them too.  Too bad Carter didn’t see what they saw with Gwen from the beginning but then you wouldn’t have a story to tell now would we?

I hope that more people read your beautifully written story about an accidental pregnancy that brings two unlikely people together in a time where they both need each other to move on from grieving the one person that brought them together in the first place.

Love,

Harlie
