Goodreads

When Ms. Hall asked me to review her new short for the anthology, I was thrilled.  I loved her books from Evernight Teen.  Well thought out and engrossing.  With a side of snark.  She did warn me, though, that this story was a bit different and she wasn’t lying.

I loved it.  It’s a suspense/mystery with romantic elements.  I will admit that I didn’t quite know what to think.  It’s not your standard story structure.  Keep that in mind when you read it.  The suspense/mystery element is spot on.  Kinda creepy and you will try to figure it out way before Ms. Hall reveals it to you.  He He!  I didn’t see it coming and what Anais does afterward is almost inspiring.  Anais is a mystery at first but once the story starts to pick up, I really liked her.  She’s smart but is also hurting because of some family issues.

Damon, poor Damon.  I wish I had gotten to know him a bit better.  He’s fleshed out but I would have liked a better perspective on what Anais was going through.  I know that he had his life to live but it seemed like he just left her hanging until she figured out what to do.  Overall, though, I really liked him.  The ending was great with him.

Overall, I really liked the story.  It’s different but it’s a good different.  Anais and Damon are people that I would like to see again.  I want to see how it all played out in the end.  🙂  Just a thought.
