Her best friend has his own comic shop, respects her fandom, and offers to add a with benefits clause to their relationship, to distract her from the stresses of work. What more could a geek-girl ask for?

Tori thought being the head designer and co-owner of a cosplay-themed lingerie company meant a chance to create. Instead of coming up with new ideas of her own, she spends all her time drawing others’ concepts, and managing her half the corporation.

The pressure pushes her past the edge of frustration. Her best friend and Sunday afternoon movie buddy, Archer, offers her an outlet—sex, minus the emotional attachment. When getting off takes a graphically novel turn, Tori realizes dirty talk is a massive turn-on.

The rush of speaking her mind bleeds into the workplace, and the backlash leaves Tori staggering. On top of that, she hasn’t protected her heart from Archer as well as she intended. Now the novelty of saying what she thinks threatens to screw Tori out of her job and her closest friend.

EXCERPT

He didn’t wait for her to ask this time, before he flicked his tongue out over a hard nipple and then wrapped his lips around it. He crawled his hands over her hips, pushing her panties out of the way and brushing her ass on the way down. His words vibrated against her breast when he spoke. “Tell me what you want.”

“More.”

“More what?”

He was going to make her say it, and she realized the only thing bothering her was that she wanted to speak the words. This wasn’t her.

But apparently it was.

“Finger me.” The two words rolled off her tongue and made her clit pulse.

bookreview

I swear I’ve NEVER wanted to slap someone upside their head in a book more than I did Archer.  Talk about someone who didn’t have a clue, put his foot in his mouth and generally just a bonehead.  Its bad enough that he was still a bit hung up on Riley but to drive the knife that much more in Tori’s heart at times…Grrrr….again, I really wanted to hurt him.

Poor Tori.  That girl had it rough on the work side.  I agreed with everything that she did in regards to her job and I’m glad that she finally spoke up.  Sometimes being passive in your work just doesn’t cut it.  It showed real character growth for Tori.  What I didn’t get was her wishy washy on the costumes.  It takes real talent to be able to sew costumes and she does it well.

I have to bring up Riley in this review.  While I loved her before, I really showed a major dislike for her in Archer’s story.  I know, she was necessary but egging on Archer in the stairwell…Ugh!  She did redeem herself with Tori in the end and I liked how we got an ending to her’s and Zane’s story.  One thing about Zane…I’m still in love with him.  So Alpha when it came to Riley and the scenes with Archer were well done, too.

Please keep in mind that this book has way more smexy times and more graphic than Riley and Zane’s story.  It’s needed to show how just having hawt times can lead to the more confusing emotions that creep up.  And wow, just wow…Archer and Tori had a lot of confusion between them and some.  What was interesting though was how Ms. Lindt dealt with Archer first.  She did an excellent job of making him look in the mirror and realize just how different his relationships were between Riley and Tori.  When he finally figured it out, I fist pumped.

Tori was a mess when it came to her emotions about Archer.  She took a little longer than Archer but hey…when you overhear a conversation between your lover and his ex-lover…I’d be confused too.  Honestly, I think her talk with Riley really helped her finally figure everything out.

Overall, Ms. Lindt has written a beautiful friends to lovers book that shows the good, the bad and the ugly times that it takes for two people to fall in love.  Throw in an ex, job woes, a hero that can’t keep his mouth shut and a heroine that you know is just the right person for the hero and BAM, you have Graphically Novel.  I can’t wait to see what else Ms. Lindt has up her sleeve for me to read.
