Sometimes love finds you.
When city and country come together for a Christmastime wedding in Montana, the unexpected gift is true love.
Synopsis:
A HOLIDAY SURPRISE
Stubbornly small-town Jenny Lindstrom has misgivings when she promises to stand proxy in her best friend’s wedding—misgivings that are fulfilled when tall, handsome Sam Kelley walks into the courthouse an hour late. In order to keep her promise, an afternoon favor turns into a weekend of startling but undeniable attraction, threatening the well-ordered world that keeps her heart at arm’s length from any more pain.
Sam’s plan is to fly to Livingston, Montana, take vows for his favorite cousin, and return to Chicago as quickly as possible. But his plan is turned upside-down when he must spend a weekend with Jenny in Gardiner to keep his word. He doesn’t want to fall for the prim, proper schoolteacher whose small-town life seems to him like selling out, but the more time he spends with her, the harder it is to say good-bye.
When city and country come together for Christmas, the unexpected gift is true love.
Review:
*sob* Why did this book have to end? Seriously? I could have read about Jenny and Sam forever. I have never meet two of the most honest characters in a contemporary romance for adults in a long time. Ms. Regnery had me from the first page beginning with Jenny and then when Sam finally makes his entrance…I was a goner.
I always thought that there was more to Sam than meets the eye and I was correct. The way Ms. Regnery slowly let Sam’s back story unfold wasn’t hurried, and as bits and more bits of him come into light, I wanted Sam for myself. Sam to me was the grown up that took the path that he thought was expected of him but in reality, it really wasn’t him. Finding out his mother’s true feelings about Montana is an eye opener for him and it pretty much sealed the deal for him.
Jenny’s story was a bit more complex for me. At first I saw her as a strong heroine and her decisions that she had made very cut and dry. Unfortunately, for me that’s pretty boring but then again, slowly and methodically her full back story came to light and the lightbulb moment for me was there. 🙂 Yes, I can be slow but I finally got it.
From the opening sequence when Sam and Jenny finally meet, to the last page of the epilogue their story was refreshing, honest, frustrating, sweet and one of the best books that I have read this year. What starts off for the first half of the book is how they meet and eventually fall in love. Then it splits to Sam’s POV in Chicago and then Jenny’s back in Montana. I know for some people that’s just not their cuppa but for me, I like to get in the characters head and really get to know them; what makes the tick and how they are going to resolve whatever predicament that they are in. Makes for a richer story and adds to the dimension of the character.
I highly suggest that you read By Proxy. Its sweet (kisses only) and at times bittersweet but you will root for Jenny and Sam to finally stop butting heads and admit to each other that one weekend will never be enough for them. Sometimes that’s all it takes to fall in love but holding on to that for more than one weekend can be hard.
I can’t wait to read her brother’s stories. Between Lars, Nils and Erik there is plenty of things to talk about it and drool over. 😉

I can’t wait for you to read it too, KP! Let me know what you think! 🙂
This review totally and completely knocked my socks off! Thank you so much, Harlie!! I am so pleased you liked Jenny and Sam…”The Christmas Wish” is coming out soon (it’s a Heart of Montana novella) and Erik’s story, Midsummer Sweetheart, will be out in January! Thanks again.
I loved this story. Your style and voice were wonderful to read. I also liked that while she did have her brothers and dad, they weren’t in her face all the time. She had her space when it came to them. That said, the meeting of the her brothers and Sam was priceless. 🙂
Harlie
P.S. I can’t wait to read Erik’s story.
I love small town romances, can’t wait to read this book!
