Review:

Where to start? Hmmm…okay we have highly intelligent woman, one HOT Russian vampire and the Mayans.  How appropriate that I reviewed a book regarding the Mayans and that they were WRONG about the end of the world?  I laugh at the irony….

Keisha is a researcher trying to discover the secret to intelligence but what she uncovers is a threat.  This threat passes by the earth every 5000 years and is now threating again.  Enter Yuri how has been studying her research is searching for the answer to how vampires came to be.  Confused?  Don’t be.  Ms. McGier has built a world that is fast paced, interesting and puts the world of paranormal and sci-fi in a blender and it all makes sense.  Love it.  I don’t dig sci-fi too much in the written word (give me Star Trek or Star Wars or Firefly and I’m your nerdy sci-fi geek) but in this world I loved it.

Wow, who knew that a vampire would actually WANT to know the origins of his being.  Very different in the paranormal world and made for better storytelling.  I fact the whole world of vampires in this book are fantastic.  Their different and sexy.  Nothing wrong with mixing it up and telling a story where the vampires aren’t sparkling, the angst is kept a minimum.  🙂

While the sex is frequent and hot, it’s also sweet.  Don’t ask, just read.  There is so much going on in the story you would think they wouldn’t have time for all that but they do.  😉  I would love a follow-up just to check up on them and to visit their world again.  Fantastic world to read and the dialogue, pacing and characterizations are top-notch, too.

Oh the Mayans were wrong about the end of the world.

  1. Well since the world did not end, I got to have my birthday LOL so I celebrated by getting another year older and going to lunch and to see The Hobbit with my son. This is a new author and read for me and my radar is buzzing, thank you for sharing with us 🙂

  2. Thanks for the kind words, Harley. So glad you enjoyed reading about one of the worlds in my mind! There is a sequel due out in February, and the characters return to finish the story arc.

  3. This is the first time I’ve heard of this author and book – thanks for the spotlight – and yeah…end of the world ….lol…..
