‘Love Rescued Princesses But Lydia Is Not One of Them’, says Virginia Nelson, Sugar On Me Author (Guest Post/Promo)

First off, thanks so much for having me!

The prince rescuing the damsel in distress is a well-known trope, showing up in everything from fairy tales to romantic comedies. It seems there’s always a hero, fat wallet and shining castle, with his eyes peeled to the horizon for a lady in rags who desperately needs him to sweep in on his white horse and carry her off to a walk in closet and six hundred dollar shoes.

I love the princesses who get rescued, but Lydia in my new release? She’s not one of them.

Lydia Thomkins doesn’t need rescued—she needs to find balance. A successful business woman in her own right, she spends her evenings in true workaholic style. Staring at her computer and answering emails with a glass of wine in hand is her idea of relaxation and she doesn’t see the need for romance. She had her trip down the aisle and learned the hard way that some princes aren’t princely.

Chandler Hawk is a billionaire—now. He started out a small town boy who dangled from apple trees and made spit promises. With people kissing his wallet, telling him what they think he wants to hear and never daring to just be honest…he would like to get back to the kind of honesty that isn’t always what he wants to hear but just what he needs.

These two meet and sparks fly. I hope readers enjoy their banter and snark as much as I enjoyed writing it!
