My writing journey
My writing journey started five years ago when I was a Unit Secretary in our local Labor and Delivery unit. That’s actually how I got the idea for what Bellamy went through. I struggled at first on how to start writing. Every writer’s blog and book I read said to just start writing. So that’s what I did. The first book I wrote was horrible, but I finished it (it wasn’t Starting Over, but a romantic suspense). Someday I’ll take it apart and rewrite it. In the five years I’ve been writing I”ve learned a lot about myself. For a long time I was a self-sabatoger, yeah that’s not really a word J I’d go weeks without writing anything but I just couldn’t let myself give up my dream. Had I always wanted to be a writer, no. I actually wanted to be the next Barbara Walters.
It’s been hard and at times, I’ve wanted to quit, but one of my good friends, who has been my rock through this process wouldn’t let me. When I finished Starting Over I started submitting everywhere, but I got rejection after rejection. I rewrote a good portion of it but it still wasn’t catching anyone’s attention. I sat on it for about 6 months and decided to give it one more shot. Was I excited my publisher, Limitless Publishing picked it up?? Heck yes I was. I’m still in shock and most days feel like this is a dream. I look forward to seeing where my writing career goes, and I’m going to enjoy the ride. I hope everyone who reads my Starting Over series enjoys it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.
