You slay Ms. Malone. Slay me. I honestly didn’t know what to expect with the second part of Seb and Penny’s story but I’m glad that I got through my tears and anger to read it to the end. Oh yes, there were tears and my anger at certain characters is worthy. Between Aston and Robert. UGH!!! That said, I’m telling you, Ariel and either Oskar or Matthias. Make it happen and soon. *wink* NOAH BLAKE!!!!! I think I really swooned towards the ending of the book when he showed up with all swagger and attitude. *sigh* But enough about the Blake Security men. That’s a different blog altogether.
What really got me in this one was the angst. Normally I don’t do angst but with these two, I knew that it was going to happen. I just never thought I would be wrung out in the end with those two equally stubborn people. Heck, even the parents knew but no, Ms. Malone never made it easy for them. But I expect that from Ms. Malone now. And let’s not forget that while it has its angsty moments, the banter between them is spot on. Not to mention that Ariel, Roone, and Lucas are always there for them. Plus, the smexy times in this one are way hotter than before. These two just can not stay away from each other…hurting or not.
I will caution you that you have to read Checky Royal first. It’s a must. You will be lost in this one. There is a mystery element that is bad*ss in the book. I never figured it out. And yes, I can figure most things out but with this one, Ms. Malone kept it simple but also didn’t let you in until the very last moment. I love it when an author does that in a contemporary book. It’s not a very heavy part of the plot but it is the overall story arc of the story. Ms. Malone does this beautifully. She also keeps the book fast-paced with no lags/gaps. I know, some people don’t like a fast-paced book, but I do. I like to read a book in one sitting and with Ms. Malone I can.
Seb and Penny were destined for each other from the time they were children. I really loved how the queen, Seb’s mom and Ethan, Penny’s dad always knew that, too. It’s like when the king died, it was only a matter of time before Seb and Penny would realize that, too. Well, and Seb needed to stop being a douche canoe. LOL! The epilogue is sexy, funny and heartfelt. I just wished that I didn’t have to say goodbye to them. I miss them already. A definite re-read is in order.
