Finding Trust by Natalie Gayle – Character Interview

An Interview with Rihanna Mason

Hi Natalie Gayle here, I’m interviewing Rihanna Mason today.  As you know, Rihanna is the female lead in Finding Trust.  Rihanna and Brayden graciously agreed for me to write their story a little while ago.

Well a lot has happened since then.  I thought I’d check back in and see where thing are at.  I was lucky enough to snag an invitation to do the interview from the veranda of their house in the Currumbin Valley, overlooking the Gold Coast, Australia.

I am privileged; Brayden guards his privacy like the Federal Reserve.  So I won’t miss probing about that.

As for the interview – well it was more like a girl’s catch up.  I have known Rih for years.  In fact I do recall baby-sitting her.   So it’s going to be very casual.

NG:      Hey Rihanna , how’s thing going?

RM:     Great and you?

NG:      Fine thanks; so tell me how did I manage to score an invite to this place? I know how Brayden guards his privacy.

RM:     Oh that!  Yeah he is a bit over the top about that.  Well we had a bit of a discussion about it a few months ago.  I told him that if he wanted me to be here then I needed to be able to have friends over as well.  Don’t get me wrong I love the Centre team but I have my own friends.  You know Jazz but there are others, contrary to what Bray may think!

NG:      At this I laugh.  I can just imagine her sounding off at him.

How did he take that?

RM:     Well he wasn’t exactly thrilled in the beginning but he trusts that I would never invite someone here who would threaten us in anyway – you know what I mean.

NG:      I do, and I have to say I was happy to be invited.

RM:     Don’t be silly you were actually the only person that knew both of us prior to us getting together.  I was so surprised when I had lunch with you a little while back and it turned out you knew both of us.  I can’t believe you didn’t introduce us earlier.

NG:      What could I say to that?   Small world isn’t it.

RM:     Then when you asked if you could tell our story I was so amazed that somebody would be interested.  Now that was a difficult sell to Brayden.

Rihanna giggled and raised her eyebrows slyly at me.

NG:      Oh do tell Rih.  You can’t, not give me the gos on that one.

RM:     She giggled naughtily.

Well I threatened to cut off all sexual access till he agreed.  I think he lasted an hour.  To tell you the truth I was getting really worried that I’d fold before him.

But I must admit I did up the stakes a little.  I told him before dinner what I wanted to do.  He was adamant that it was a big no.  Anyway after dinner I put on a really skimpy emerald green negligée and plopped myself down on the lounge beside where he was working on a song.

It was so funny.  He was really trying not to look at me.  And then over the next hour his guitar strumming got less and less and I heard more sighs.  It was when I heard the first low growly noise from him I knew I had it in the bag.

She giggles and flashes me a huge grin.  My Rihanna’s become a bit of a seductress it seems.

Anyway he put the guitar down and I knew I was in for it then.  Let’s just say it was one of the wildest nights we’ve had together – and we’ve had plenty.

NG:      Oh you lucky thing you.

RM:     I am aren’t I?

She twitches her shoulders and her face breaks out into a “cat that go the canary” kind of look.  Yep, definitely a very satisfied woman.

NG:      How’s Jazz these days, I haven’t caught up with her since she took the job with Tom.

RM:     Oh she’s really good.  I think she’s having a ball but you know Jazz she’d never admit it.  She seems to have got over the whole Andy thing, which is good.

NG:      That’s good news.  So who’s the latest in her long string of men?

RM:     Yeah she certainly never lets the grass grow under her feet.  She went out with Cody from Steel a few times.  I’m not sure what the story is there.  He looks at her like she’s his next meal and she seems totally indifferent.

Jazz and Quade are still at each other like a pair of squabbling five year olds.  It’s hilarious to watch – they don’t even realise they do it.

She looks at me conspiratorially.

But what’s even stranger is the way her and the boss trade exchanges.  There could well be something there.  I’ve caught him watching her leave a room and the look in his eye is anything but professional.  You know how strange that is for Tom.

NG:      Really!  (my eyes just about bugged out of my head)

RM:     Yes.  Can you believe it?

NG:      No.  You know I’ve known him for years and I can’t ever remember him being interested in anyone.  He’s always been alone.

RM:     Yeah that’s what the guys have told me.

NG:      Wow!  Anyway getting back on topic – how are you settling into being with Brayden.

RM:     It’s amazing. I can’t believe how happy I am.  I’m so glad everything worked out the way it did.  I can’t imagine going back to my old life.

NG:      And what’s happening on the work scene at the moment?

RM:     Well I’m easing into a few things at the moment.  I’m really curious to know more about the genetic modifications that Brayden and the guys have had.  And as a vet and scientist I can’t help myself.  He’s just so interesting.

Her hand shoots to her mouth.

Oh that sounds so bad.  And I don’t mean it that way at all.  I’d love him either way but this unique package is well – Unique and incredible.

NG:      I know, I’ll say it again – you lucky thing.

RM:     Who would have thought this would be my life six months ago?

NG:      So how’s your dad?  I haven’t seen him in ages.

RM:     He’s moving on really well.  He actually seems a little happier which is hard to believe.  He’s also doing some sort of secret project for Tom.  Neither of them are talking.  I guess they’ll tell us in due course.

NG:      That’s great I’m really pleased he’s happier.  He’s really struggled since your mum passed.  (I didn’t give her time to dwell on that – I moved on quickly)

I asked Brayden what he found most annoying about you, but he politely reworded my sentence to frustrating.  It’s only fair you should get to reciprocate.  So what’s the most annoying/frustrating thing about him?

RM:     Mmm that’s a tough one.  There’s really nothing – he’s so perfect it’s annoying – how’s that?  (I shake my head – not buying that Rih)

I do get annoyed or frustrated when he tries to go all dominant on me with decisions about what I should be doing.  Trouble is I usually end up more turned on than anything then we end up having hot sex and I can’t remember why I was even ticked at him.

NG:      At this I laugh.  How far you’ve come.  I can’t believe you’re actually openly mentioning sex.  Wow, that’s a biggy for you.  No way the Rihanna I knew a few months ago would do that.

RM:     She smiles at me a little embarrassed then throws her hands in the air.

What can I say?  He’s liberated me.  You’re right he has got me to loosen up a lot.   He did warn me at the beginning it would happen.  And I guess he was right.

NG:      Anything else you want to tell our readers just yet.

RM:     Rihanna looks very sheepish.

Well I do have something else, but it would probably spoil the surprise for Rory’s story so I’ll keep it to myself.

NG:      Oh come on Rih – you can’t leave us like that.

RM:     She considers for a second.

Okay – let’s just say double trouble.

NG:      I raise my hands as if asking for more.  And she shakes her head in a no.

Well I do know Rih well, and no means no. Unless of course you’re Jazz.  Jazz would be my only hope of getting it out of her and she isn’t here.

So I guess we’ll just have to wait until we find out her secret in Rory’s book.

Thanks Rih – I’ll check back soon!
