Sometimes finding what you want is the easy part.

Caleb is a bionic soldier with little-to-no memory of his past. He’s traded pieces of himself for some very highly classified, high-tech hardware, but he’s lost far more than he’s gained. He’s seeking the truth. About himself. About his past. About those missing memories.

Aldo’s an undercover cop who just might have the answers to Caleb’s questions. But Aldo’s already lost one love too many. If it turns out Caleb’s the man Aldo thinks he is, how can he even think about letting him get away from him a second time?

Then there’s Sally, she’s an ER physician who used to be married to Aldo’s late partner, Davis. Although she does her best to hide it, Sally’s not really coping very well with widowhood. She cares deeply about both Caleb and Aldo, and she knows they both care about her–one as a lover, the other as a friend–but she needs something more. If the truth about the men’s shared past comes to light, she could lose them both. Along with her last, best reason to continue living.

This holiday season, chance will bring these three together and give them an opportunity to help one another find what they each want most. But every gift comes with a price. And keeping what they’ve found once they’ve found it? Yeah, that’s gonna be the hard part all right.

 Finders Keepers Fun Facts:

Most of the first three chapters came to me in a dream. Needless to say, it was a very good dream. Among the details I dreamed was the title and all three of the main characters’ names.

The original first sentence didn’t make it into the finished book. What was it?

“Caleb Mitchell was taking it up the ass.”

This was changed for what are probably obvious reasons. However, I stand by my earlier statement: It was a really good dream!

Although the story is set in an alternative future world, there were certain New Year’s traditions that I was reluctant to dispense with, the Rose Bowl Parade being one of them. I don’t want to imagine a New Year’s Day in California without it, so I made sure my characters wouldn’t have to either.

Review:

*hangs head in shame*  This is my first P.G. Forte book and I can’t believe I waited this long.  And this from a reader that doesn’t read science fiction/space opera.  I do read ménage and suspense so that is the main reason why I read it.  Ms. Forte has convinced me to start reading the genre.  🙂

This story is about three different but hurting people.  One has lost his memory, one has lost his husband and the other one has also lost her husband.  Oh and let’s not forget that one of the men (Aldo) is best friends with Sally.  Then Caleb has no memory of who he was or is at the moment.  Still not done…Have Caleb and Aldo start a relationship and then throw Sally into the mix.  Problem with all that is Aldo is only in love with Sally as a friend but in love with Caleb.  Caleb is in love with both of them.

Oh what a tangled weave we have with them.  While the sex was hot and scorching, don’t expect a “normal” ménage in this story.   The ménage was separate from the sex between all three characters.  There is M/M and then M/F and then M/M/F.  Again, its different but it doesn’t lose the steam factor.

I really enjoyed the suspense/mystery element about Caleb.  He was a bionic with no memory of who or what he was, so watching that play out was good.  I enjoyed the world that Ms. Forte built, too.  The touches of “our world” did not go unnoticed and only enhanced MY enjoyment of the story.  It wasn’t too sci-fi for me when those elements were added.

I also enjoyed that the book was centered around the holiday so that all of them could find hope within themselves and each other.  Very well good.

About P.G. Forte:

I wrote my first serialized story when I was still in my teens.  The sexy, adventure tales were very popular at my oh-so-proper, all girls, Catholic High School, where they helped to liven up otherwise dull classes.

Even if my teachers didn’t always think so.

Originally a Jersey Girl, I currently reside in California with my husband and soul mate, our two young adult kids and a random assortment of animal companions.

  2. The best gift I ever received was a small box from daughter, who had no money), inside were slips of paper to redeem for chores around the house. It was awesome that she wanted to give me something.
