Blood Blue For Life Blog Tour

I will admit that when I read the first book in this series, I was not prepared to entry a paranormal world that really is normal.  Yes, normal.  I could see these characters living anywhere and being friends with them, too.  The setting, characters and plot are very plausible and engaging.  I have reviewed the book in this series and if you would like to read it to get up to speed here is the link.  I’ll wait…  🙂
Okay, now that you have read the interview and review of the first book, I give you the  blurb and a couple of excerpts from Blue Blood for Life.  And yes, I’m already reading it.   BTW, these excerpts don’t do the book justice at all.  I highly, highly recommend this series to anyone, even my 70 yr. old mother.

EXCERPT #1:
Chapter 11 – Julian’s Arrival
As I got closer, I watched as Kristin transformed from calmness to increasing bloodlust. She latched onto Trent with her legs and tried to pull him toward her so she could reach his neck. Astonishment raced through me as I watched her get out of control. What was going on?
Trent was fighting to keep Kristin off his neck as I came up on the other side of the car. When Trent looked up and saw me, I saw a moment of relief flash through his eyes.
“Trent, I’m going to grab her from behind. Unlock her legs from around you as soon as I tell you and push her away,” I told him as I reached over the top of the small car.
“Now!” I yelled at him as I pulled her back over the car. Trent had pushed her so hard that we both fell back onto the ground. Kristin froze for a moment in my arms, caught by surprise, but it didn’t last long because she quickly flipped over and went for my throat.
The words Alex wrote ran through my mind again … “Whatever it takes … protect her …” I put my hand on the back of her head and held her to my throat as her canine teeth broke the skin and I felt the first pulls of my blood leaving my body. I knew she had no idea who I was or what she was doing, but that didn’t stop me from taking this moment.
She greedily pulled from my neck, and I felt the lust rising in her as she pushed her body hard against mine. My body reacted immediately, and it took every ounce of strength to not bite down on her neck and take her right there. Trent broke through my pull at the lust when he

shouted at me.

“Julian! What the hell are you doing?” I felt him grab Kristin, and I felt her trying to fight him off. I wanted to stop him myself, but his next words rang true in my ears. “You can’t let her do that! Especially not here!”
I pushed up on Kristin as Trent pulled her from behind, quickly removing her from our position on the ground, at the same time, taking a quick look around and seeing the eyes of three startled women watching me, probably all friends of Kristin’s. I wasn’t sure who was going to be madder at me for what I was going to do next—the friends, Trent, or Kristin.

EXCERPT #2:
Chapter 19 – Kristin’s Shift

I pulled my vest out of my locker and put it over my head just as he finally spoke.
“Why are you wearing that?”
I glanced at him quickly then turned my back to pull my shirt out of my locker. “Everyone knows I am religious about wearing my vest. It saves lives, and it would seem kind of strange if all of a sudden I stop wearing it now.”
“Makes sense,” was all he said in return.
John walked into the station then and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Trent. Trent stood up straight and looked John over from head to toe. I almost laughed as I felt the male testosterone filling up the room.
“Hey, John, this is Trent. He works for Alex and wanted to see how the big boys do it.” I smiled at him, and John seemed to relax and walked forward to shake Trent’s hand.
I heard Trent make a gruff sound at my explanation of his being here. I’m sure he loved my use of “big boys.” I bit back a smile.
John filled me in on his day. Not much going on; some alarms and ambulance calls, nothing major. Trent followed me out of the station as I walked out to the garage to pull out my patrol vehicle. He was lucky that I drove an Expedition as his large frame would have been a tight squeeze in the Charger or Crown Vic patrol cars that we had.
As I was logging on to the computer a car pulled up into the driveway. I looked up and saw that it was an elderly woman, and she pulled up next to me and rolled down her window. I smiled. I knew who she was and what this was going to be about. Perfect.
“Officer Greene, I’m so glad you are on duty. Buffy has taken off again. Do you mind?” I knew exactly what she wanted me to do. Her little dog had taken off into the park woods again and with her bad hip, she couldn’t venture out to bring her in.
“Mrs. Valero, I would be more than happy to bring Buffy home.” I smiled back at her.
“Oh, thanks, dear. She’s getting restless again. I think they are back,” she said quietly in an awe-filled expression.
I laughed. If she only knew. “No problem. I’ll bring her home in a little while.” I drove off toward the park, typing a message to my dispatcher over the MDC that we had in the car. Our Mobile Dispatch Computers connected us with a lot of information, from our direct connection with our dispatchers and other officers to information on stolen items and car and driver information.
“Who is back again?” Trent asked me as I pulled off the roadway to drive through the grass along the tree line. I couldn’t help but laugh, “Oh, just wait.”
I pulled up along the tree line and hit my air horn twice. Then I climbed out of the truck and whistled loudly in the air. “Buffy, come here!” I shouted and could hear fast little feet tramping over brush and sticks back in the woods. Buffy always came to me.
The little dog wasn’t more than twelve pounds soaking wet and she came bounding out of the brush and right into my waiting arms. She was always happy to see me. I walked around the truck and opened the passenger door. Trent looked at me funny as I handed over the fuzzy little dog.
“Trent, meet Buffy. Buffy, the vampire slayer.” His eyes opened wide as he stared down at the little dog in his lap.
Buffy, in turn, growled at him and pulled her front lip up, baring her sharp canine teeth. Her entire body vibrated with the growl as she stared him down. The look on Trent’s face was so priceless that I could do nothing but laugh.
“Are you kidding me?” he asked as I closed the door and started back for the driver’s side of the truck. I was still laughing when I got into the seat, and Buffy was still staring Trent down and growling low at him.
“Nope. Buffy knows when the vampires are here.” I put the car in drive and started heading out of the park to take the dog home. Trent sat very stiffly holding the dog as she continued to growl at him. I just kept laughing. This was just a perfect call.

EXCERPT #3:
Chapter 19 – Trent

Her adrenaline was racing, fierce and strong. I could feel every drop of it. While I had felt my share of adrenaline surges on my own, I had never felt one coming from someone else. It was amazing. She told me to grab something out of the truck as she pulled up to a house and immediately jumped out of the truck and ran to the front door. I was right behind her along with the other two cops that had followed us over.
When I got inside, Kristin was already doing compressions on the man and was looking around the room. Ian was down on his knees getting a piece of equipment out, and Kristin told me to get the pads ready. I sat down next to her and pulled them out getting them ready for her. The whole time I could feel her emotions running through her.
I watched as she looked up at the wife, how she looked over at the children that were with Stefan, heard her prayer for the man she worked on.
As she stood up and backed away, allowing the other personnel to work on him, I found I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She walked to the woman and picked up a toy, then moved into the kitchen. I followed her quietly. She spoke with the woman and handed the bunny to the little girl. The compassion moving through her system was amazing, and I could feel it. The adrenaline was dying down, but other emotions were still very strong in her.
We left the house after the man had been taken out on a stretcher. I walked next to her as she walked to the truck. As she put the red bag into the back, I felt awestruck. She turned to me, and I had never meant to say anything, hadn’t meant to do anything, but when I saw her look at me with a confused look on her face, I could not stop myself from stepping up close to her.
“I could feel your adrenaline. It was so strong, and then I could almost feel all your thoughts. You were worried about the man and the woman who was crying. You were fighting for that man’s life because he had small children and he was too young to die. I heard them; I felt them. That was incredible.” I lifted her chin with my fingers.
“That was beautiful.” I leaned down and kissed her. I didn’t care who saw us, or what was going on around us. I needed at that moment to tell her how amazed I was at all of this. How amazed I was at the feelings the bond between us had created. I would have said more, but her radio came to life and called her once again.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Currently I work full time as a Police Officer for a small township is Southeastern Pennsylvania. While my current position is that of a patrol officer, I spend a lot of my time doing investigations and crime scene processing.  Forensics is something I love and I take my job seriously.

I am also a wife to a Police Officer and with our constant schedules life can get very hectic in our home. I have been blessed with two children, a son who is currently in the United States Navy and I am very proud of him for what he is doing and for putting serving his Country. My daughter is a priceless princess who loves to help me market my books to teachers and other parents while she is at school and church.

When I am not working the job that currently pays all the bills I work on my business. Yes, I have my own business too.

I have two Shiloh Shepherd dogs, Garda and Callie. They are a bit different than the standard German Shepherds most people are use to. They are larger and less aggressive and they have more fur!  Man do they have fur!!!  Garda has a face that resembles a wolf, which makes me love him even more. (You can see by my photo that I wear a wolf pendant). Garda actually means “The Guardian” in Irish. It is also the name of the Irish Police.  Rather fitting for our family of officers don’t you think?

In my spare time…I write.
