What makes a great beach read? For Harlie…I need to laugh and swoon. Yes, swoon over my hero. A couple of books come to mind when I think of swooning…
Sam is the typical Alpha man who Ms. Howard wrote back in the day and he still makes me smile. He thinks he’s perfect but our kick ass heroine Janie always seems to rein in him. Their dialogue and smexiness still kills me. And yes, I have it in paperback and on the Kindle. Plus if you ever want to read Ms. Howard…start with this one. Or MacKenzie’s Mountain. 🙂 You’re welcome!
I’m such a sucker for this series. So much so, that its one of my all time favorite series of books to 
read. Ms. Krentz wrote the Arcane Society interweaving her historical persona (Amanda Quick), contemporary persona (Jayne Ann Krentz) and her futuristic one (Jayne Castle). I picked this one because Zack Jones is the MAN. No seriously, he’s the man. If you have ever read the series, he is the future head of the secretive Arcane Society and a direct descendent of the original members. But, seriously…he is hot, loves Raine to distraction and his ending speech to the society…Yep…I’m still a goner.
Of course, my list would not be complete if I didn’t include my all time favorite romance book. Shadow Dance by Julie Garwood. This book alone brought me fully back into the romance genre and I’ve never looked back. Just one word…Noah…*faints* I still have my original paperback…torn and tattered. I’ve replaced it and this one is on the Nook and Kindle. Oh yes…I have it everywhere. In fact, I have everything Ms. Garwood has written.
As you can see I’m bit old school when it comes to my beach reads. Plus, while these are all romantic suspense novels, there is quite a bit of humor in all of them. I’ve told people many times that I don’t follow book trends and I seriously don’t. I read what I want and I’m happier.

MacKenzie’s Mountain is a great summer read. Then you can follow it up with the rest of the books in the series. Dream Man by Linda Howard is another.
