Title: COUNTERFEIT BOYFRIEND

Author: Cindi Madsen

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Counterfeit Boyfriend:

My twin brother’s talked me into a lot of crazy things, but taking his place on a road trip with his girlfriend so he can party with his friends is a whole new level of insanity. What’s even more insane is I somehow find myself agreeing to it—thanks, alcohol, guilt, and bribery. I’m determined to undo the arrangement, but then I meet Gwen, this sexy redheaded hurricane of energy and brains.

And then she kisses me. Just like that, I’m driving her up the coast, on our way to a wedding with a mess of complications. With each hour and each stop, I’m falling harder and harder for a woman who doesn’t know my actual name.

I’m trying to do the right thing. Or the lesser of the wrong things. All my life I’ve had to clean up my brother’s messes, but for the first time ever, I’ve landed the upper hand in one of our switcheroo schemes. Now I’ve just got to come clean and convince Gwen that I’m the brother she should be with.

You know what gets me?  When an author doesn’t think that they are funny?  Yes, I read the acknowledgments and Ms. Madsen doesn’t think she is that funny.  Her author buddies had to tell her.  Really?  I was rolling, like belly laughing from reading this book.  I hate when authors don’t think they are funny.  Especially Ms. Madsen.  Bare none, she has written the funniest book I’ve read this year.  And one of the sweetest.  Yes, sweetest.

Don’t expect a lot of hanky-panky between these two.  Trust me, it is not needed.  Between Gwen trying to fit back in with her friends and Ethan having to lie to her the whole time AND maintain is his sanity and not kill his brother, plus, the road trip.  You don’t miss it.  I just wanted Gwen and Ethan to keep talking.  Gwen kinda reminded of Sally Field’s character in Smokey and the Bandit.  She was in constant motion, never stopped talking and the Bandit fell in love with her anyway.  *sigh*  Ethan was the same way.  He never talked down to her, made fun of her.  He appreciated her, genuinely liked her and somewhere down the road, fell in love with her.

Gwen, on the other hand, was a tougher sell with it came to Ethan.  She kept thinking that she was with Evan and wondering why the personality switch.  Y’all.  This book.  It has all the feels.  The twin switch is handled quite well.  I have twin aunts and I remember hearing switch stories all the time.  Unfortunately, they never switched boyfriends but their stories were still hilarious.  Ms. Madsen has written a twin switcharoo story that is realistic, plausible and I never felt sorry for Evan AT.All.  In fact, I’m still wondering what happened to him and Tori at the birthday party.  Now THAT would be a story to tell.

Ms. Madsen never disappoints with me.  Never.  I’ve read her YA, NA and adult books and she just gets better.  She is one of my auto-buy authors for life.  Again, I was belly laughing with these two.  Gwen and Ethan are that magical couple that needs to be on the screen.  Passionflix needs to take notice of this book.  Seriously.  Someone needs to make this happen.  Dream casting:  Isla Fisher and Sebastian Stan.

About Cindi:

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting, revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a pretty new pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music and dancing and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband, three children, and one overly-dramatic tomcat.
