They are beautiful. They are rich. They are strong willed and successful. They have everything, but love. And each one of them has a dark secret looming in their past.
Sophia is a 25 year old Brazilian widow. Intelligent and ravishing, she flees from her own country after a tragic incident. Hiding from everyone and everything, she remains alone, torn between the love for a dead man, the torment of living without part of her memory and the fear of moving on.
Ethan is one of the most important tycoons in the steel industry. As the memory of an awful evening in his adolescence haunts him night and day, he keeps looking for an elusive woman whom he could love – and who would love him – as he never has in all his 35 years… Until he finds Sophia.
Alistair is a 34 year old powerful banker, searching for one–night stands with women who will warm his bed. And that he can punish physically to abate his anger for his late wife’s black deeds and his own guilt for being such a debauched man for so many years. Any woman will do, and he has many to choose from, as they all fall instantly for his manly, devilish charming ways.
In Europe, in the months after October 2009, their paths will cross and clash.
This is the first book of the trilogy TRUST, this is an adult contemporary romance lavishly set in a billionaire’s Europe, deriving its strength from realistic and dramatic character interactions in their hunt for trust and love.
Contains strong language and graphic sex scenes.
You know what I really hate? That I have to wait for book 2. Seriously, when I was done with Trust, I was bummed out. I kept looking for more and I didn’t get it. I hate waiting so I hope book #2 is coming out soon. I must find out what happens with Alistair, Sophia and Ethan.
When you read the blurb I bet you are thinking, Harlie this sounds like an erotic Harlequin Presents. In some ways you would be somewhat right but this book is soooo much more than that. Yes, there is sex, money, power but no virgin and there are two men vying for the same woman. There is also an undercurrent of abusive that is played out but Ms. Serruya isn’t done with that angle. It’s too big of an issue to be ignored in book #2.
Oh and our heroine Sophia…she’s smart, a lawyer and an Alpha if you will. Her one problem is that she can’t remember certain parts of her life and I can’t wait to find out what the hell happened to her. 🙂 As a lawyer, you get a first hand account of some of her cases, too. Well done. Again, no simpering heroine. 🙂
Ethan is the steel tycoon that Sophia first dates. The relationship starts off easy and the sex is hot but when he does the unthinkable to Sophia, she breaks it off with him. When she breaks it off with him, Ethan becomes creepy and obsessive with his desire for her. This is the one part of the book, that I became weirded out with him. I began to really dislike him and his actions. I’m hoping that in the next book, more of his dark side is made known and explained.
Alistair is the banker that Sophia finds as a friend first, then lover. Their relationship is paced much slower and I appreciated that in the book. She gives as good as takes in the relationship and for me, it’s a much more emotional relationship. Unfortunately, at the end of the book, he does something to Sophia that blew me away. What an ass! This is where book #2 will pick up…hopefully.
Be warned, there is BDSM in the book and it is talked about with Alistair. You get to see a side of him that I never saw coming. I liked that and I’m interested to read more about him in the next installment.
I know you are thinking, Harlie, she has sex with two different men in the book, what gives? You just need to read it to find out. 🙂 Ms. Serruya wrote in such a way that it make sense and very plausible. Also, her settings, descriptions and scenes are very well written and I got lost in the book. Again, I was bummed when it ended. I didn’t want it to end but alas, it did. 🙁
Ms. Serruya has written a brilliant debut and I can’t wait to see what happens next with Sophia, Ethan and Alistair. I miss them already. *sigh* Oh, and I haven’t picked a side (man) yet but I have my idea. 🙂
