BLURB:

As a pale revenant—the vampire faction believing all life is sacred—sixteen-year-old Scarlett Ellis has learned to hide in the human world. She goes to night-school, works at a coffee shop, and her uncle Chasem trains her in martial arts. No matter what, she has to be prepared, because when she turns seventeen, she’ll be of Dawning age—and her biological father Apollo vows to see her dead first.

Expecting her Dawning to be impossible, she accepts the fact that she will become a rogue, forever hunted by revenant renegades and outcast by her own people. Scarlett thinks she’s prepared for this—until the curly-haired Nicholas Lightener walks into her life and asks her out on a date.

Torn between her feelings for Nick and the danger of the revenant world, Scarlett’s strange life is turned inside-out when she’s kidnapped and forced to do the one thing she swore she’d never do. Plus, she has no idea whose memories keep appearing in her dreams, or if they can even help her. Determined to free herself from a death sentence, Scarlett must fight to become who she was born to be.

Excerpt Three:

His lips freeze in surprise for a moment, warm and tasting like salt, but they quickly yield to mine. Before I know it, his surprise melts into participation, and he kisses me back. It’s all pleasantly confusing, and I feel dizzy. My blood pounds wildly in my veins and I’m worried my eyes are going to change out of excitement. But before I can pull back, he does first, and his breath is hot on my cheek.

I keep my eyes down, for fear of what they might show. I glance up at the artery in his neck, veiled by the paper-thin skin of a human. The blood moves in thick shots and I hear his heart pounding. I feel the urge to let my canines drop and lean over to bite him. I’ve learned to control myself so much around humans that I’m able to push the desire down. But he gives off the most intoxicating smell. I find myself wondering what his blood would taste like. It’s odd to even think about, because I don’t even need blood right now, but he’s somehow attracting me in a way I don’t understand. It’s a strange desire to bite—not to hurt, not even to drink, but to bite. I can’t make sense of it.

Dante’s POV
Flexing my fingers, I strode into the alleyway, keeping to the shadows.
“Move away from him.” My steady, low-pitched voice hung in the humid air, arms stilled at my sides.
“This is none of your business, mister,” the man Carl had approached in the club spoke as he straightened to his full height.
A large man, he stood wider than me and built like a wrestler. Same as his friend. They reminded me of an old nursery rhyme I’d read as a kid—Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
“I’ll walk away if you let him come with me.” The negotiator in me held court. In my line of work, this skill had saved my skin more times than I could count. Especially since it distracted the adversary into thinking I lacked the physical strength to back it up.
“Not until we’re done here.”
One look into Carl’s rounded and pleading eyes and I switched tactics, stepping into their space.
Tweedledee growled and charged, swinging his arms.
My reflexes took over. After ducking low, I smashed my fist into Tweedledee’s groin. He gave an agonised grunt and fell with a thud to the ground.
Whoosh. Wham. Tweedledum came at me, fists jabbing in methodical motions like a boxer. Jaw clenched in a snarl, I ducked his punches, biding my time as I was slowly pushed back into a corner. My experience made me keep my composure while adrenaline flooded my veins.
The chance came. I stepped wide with my left foot, swung my right leg behind him and kicked back. Tweedledum tumbled. I pulled him backward with his arms and flipped him over my right hip. As the man crashed onto the ground, I corked my hand, ready to deliver a death blow.
“No!” Carl shouted, a terrified tremor in his voice.

A Smexy Scene from Duce © Kai Tyler 2015
Carlos’s POV
“Your first time folding clothes.”
I’d been admiring him so much I’d forgotten everything else. His words made me look at my handiwork and my cheeks heated. How did he know it was my first time?
“I-I’m sorry if it’s not up to your standard.” I felt inadequate and silly that I couldn’t fold my own clothes well.
“You did a good job.”
“I did?” Warmth spread across my chest at his approving words.
“Yes, you did. Come here.”
I didn’t need a second invitation. I hurried to him.
Placing both hands on either side of my face, he stared at me for a minute, the expression in his eyes completely unreadable. Then he jammed his hands into my hair, tugged my head back, and lowered his lips to mine.
I melted against him. In contrast to the hardness of his body, his lips were soft. Full and soft. His tongue explored my mouth. Hungry. Seeking. Savouring. I groaned, grabbing onto his bare back and rubbing my cock against him.
He broke the kiss. Nuzzled my chin, my neck. Bristles scoured my skin. Callused hand wrapped around my dick. I gasped for air, leaked pre-cum like a tap. A thumb swiped and he spread the moisture, using it as lubricant as he jacked me.

Although I’m new to writing MM Romance, I’ve been a reader and lover of the genre for many years. When I’m not helping other authors promote their works, you might find me in a coffee shop, day dreaming about how the cute couple in the corner fell in love. You can also find me online ogling images of hot men, which I do share btw.

Excerpt 3

The other boy seems sullen, his arms crossed over his chest.  He is leaner than the Light Skinned boy with an olive complexion and coppery curls that frame his face.  His jaw is firm, solid, and his eyes are a vivid green, like emeralds or green diamonds…if such a thing existed.

“Geez, what happened to you?” the Light Skinned boy asks.  I blink my eyes a few times, trying to understand what he is talking about.

“What?” I manage to say as I turn to close the still opened door.

“You’re covered with blood.”  I glance down at my healing robe.  When I woke up this morning it was white…but it would be difficult to tell that now.

“Emergency,” I squeak out, swallowing to clear my throat.

“What, did someone get his head chopped off?”  It is the Light Skinned boy, and his golden eyes are twinkling, as if he is enjoying this.

“Yes…well, actually it was a woman.”
