Happy Release Day to Smart Tass by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff! #Smarttass @Mimijeanromance

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes SMART TASS, a new Romantic Comedy.

He’s the hot quarterback all the girls want.

She’s the smart girl he loves to pick on.

And now that they’re all grown up, things are about to get geekin’ ugly…

My name is Tass. I’m smart, I’m driven, and I am determined not to let prankster Hunter Johnson continue raining on my parade. When we were little, he’d pull my hair and call me names. When we were teenagers, he’d throw food and tease me for being a flat-chested virgin.

But now that we’ve ended up at the same college, he’s out of his hot head if he thinks he can keep messing with my life. It’s like he’s fixated on me or something. Well, guess what, Mr. Amazefootball? I’m not that geeky little girl anymore and you do not screw with a smart woman.

So what’s my plan?

It’s definitely wild, and he’s about to find out…

Best Laid Plans Box Set

by Robyn Kelly

GENRE:   Contemporary Romance

Jillian Whitkins is an event planner who is ready to throw in the towel. She is managing a birthday party with a 50 Shades of Grey theme—and it’s turning into a disaster! The birthday girl is drunk, the guests are harassing her staff, and she is about to offend a real-life Christian Grey.

Excerpt Two:

“You should invite me in.”

When did he become so formal? “Are you a vampire?” Isn’t that what Minerva called him—an emotional vampire? “You can’t cross a threshold without an invitation?”

“What was it you said earlier? ‘If I open this door, we are really going to do this.’ I need you to decide. Either invite me in or say good-night. It’s your choice, Jillian.”

Part of me wishes he would just come in and kiss me senseless and then ravish me. That’s not his style tonight. Still, I need to know a little more. “If I invite you in, what will happen?”

He raises his eyebrows and laughs, almost like a villain in an old James Bond film. “You want me to sell you on the idea of inviting me in?”

His lips curl into a sensual smile as he crosses his arms and leans against the doorframe. The pose suits him—he looks like an ad for sex. “What I want to do is explore. I want to explore your body, I want to explore what turns you on, and I want to explore what makes your eyes roll back in your head. I want to know what makes you whimper, what makes you moan, and what makes you shout my name.”

“You’re very persuasive.”

“I must be. I’ve turned myself on.” He straightens and drops his arms. “Invite me in.”

Despite every nagging doubt and fear, I hold out my hand. “Won’t you come in, Jackson?”

Remember how I said that I wouldn’t review a BDSM book on the blog again?  Remember how I never read FSOG or even seen the movies?  Remember me telling you that FSOG RUINED the sub-genre for me?  Well, this book has made me see the whole sub-genre in a different light.  Why?  Because the BDSM in the book is light (nothing you haven’t read before and it’s not graphic) and the main focus of the book is the romantic comedy.  Oh yes, romantic comedy.  There were times that I was laughing my rear off at Jillian and Jackson.

This book could easily be put into the category romance but with the elements of BDSM AND comedy, it just simply doesn’t fit.  It fits into its own category.  Don’t get me wrong about the BDSM elements.  I’m not making light of them at all.  In fact, I thought those parts of the book were very well written with a dash of humor that puts the reader at ease with them.  Jillian is a sub in the bedroom but a Dominant everywhere else.  Jackson is a Dominant through and through and has never met anyone like Jillian before.  We get a glimpse of his latest sub in the beginning of the book and it is not pretty.  In fact, Ms. It (as Jillian calls her) makes Jackson realize that he truly wants a relationship with Jillian beyond the bedroom.

Jillian isn’t an innocent when it comes to BDSM.  With all of her FSOG themed parties, she knows the when, why and hows and who to call for things but it is all clinical to her.  She’s never experienced it herself and that’s what Jackson is for.  But their relationship is much deeper than that.  Trust me.  And that’s one of the biggest issues that this couple has.  Trust issues.  Her’s come from an alcoholic dead husband and mother.  His comes from being in jail and foster care.  In fact, the big black moment in the book comes from a confession from his mother and it’s painful to read but it explains so much of how Jackson is and the man that doesn’t want to be to Jillian.

Usually, in BDSM books, the Dom is an Alpha*ole but Jackson isn’t.  Sure he is firm with Jillian but Jillian makes him human.  It’s hard NOT to fall in love with him.  He’s all bark and not bite.  In fact, Jillian has a nickname at the office called The Lion Tamer.  Trust me, the scenes at work are hilarious.  If I had one complaint is the amount of clothing that is ripped in the book.  I can’t imagine wearing expensive stuff and having it ripped off all the time but hey, that’s just me.  But it works in the book and their relationship.

Since our author lives in Frisco, she name drops all the fab locations, restaurants and the like.  I really felt like I was on a tour at times.  She also writes a tightly woven tale of romance that really sneaks up on you in the end.  The pacing is fast and the sex is hot.  But underneath it all is a great book with terrific characters that I cared about, want to read more about and swooned over in the end.

Right now as I’m typing this I’m reading the last book in the trilogy.  Yes, there is the 3rd book.  I knew that I just HAD to find out how their relationship plays out with the HEA.  I’m not sure if I will finish it before this blog goes live.  I’m trying, really trying.

More please, sir.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

Robyn Kelly is my pen name. I work for one of the top boutique event planning companies in San Francisco, and I can’t risk having our clientele (or my boss) discover my passion for aggressive, sexual, alpha men.

I write the kinds of stories I like to read. I realized the top four things I love in a romance are:

The chase. I don’t care how hot or rich the hero is, he’s got to work for it if he wants in to my heroine’s panties—for at least four chapters!

Second chances. My heroines aren’t virgins. They are women who have loved and lost before.

I’m not against virgins, some of my best friends in high school were virgins. I just think they should stick with bad boys, and leave the billionaires to us experienced women.

Humor.  I love a book that can get me both hot and laughing.

Happy endings. They’re so much better than cliff-hangers.

THE HOT ONE - cover

A sexy new standalone romance from #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely…

Ever notice that sometimes a guy will do something really stupid, like let the love of his life slip through his fingers?

Yeah. I’m that guy. But the instant I run into her again I’ve got one goal and one goal only—a second chance. The plan? Go big or go home.

Fine, at first glance, stripping naked at my ex-girlfriend’s place of work might not seem like the brightest way to win her heart again. But trust me on this count—she always liked me best without any clothes on. And sometimes you’ve got to play to your strengths when you’re fighting an uphill battle. As a lawyer, I know how to fight, and I’m prepared to fight hard for her. Because sometimes you need a second chance at first love.

He’s the one who got away . . .

The nerve of Tyler Nichols to reappear like that at my job, showing off his rock-hard body that drove me wild far too many nights. That man with his knowing grin and mischievous eyes is nothing but a cocky jerk to saunter back into my life. Except, what if he’s not . . .? I’ve tried like hell to forget him, but maybe I’m cursed to remember the guy I fell madly in love with eight years ago. Lord knows I’m not over him, so what’s the harm in giving him a week to prove he’s changed in the ways that matter?

After all, how do you resist the hot one . . .?

THE HOT ONE - RDL teaser 3

Excerpt Two:

She turns her head.

And waves.

And smiles.

That smile makes me feel like I can do this. Like I can win her heart again. Mine pounds faster as I near her, and it’s not just because I happen to think she’s the most stunning woman I’ve ever seen, but because of who she is.

I arrive at her side, and she straightens. “Hey.”

There’s that awkwardness again, and I want no part of it today. Like the bungee jumper I am, I lean in and dust a quick kiss on her lips. At first, she freezes. That won’t fucking do at all. My tongue darts out, flicking her top lip. A soft breath escapes her, and she gives in. Her sweet lips linger on mine, sending a charge down my spine. My brain leapfrogs ahead, and I picture scooping her up in my arms, carrying her to a quiet little patch of trees, and kissing her till she begs me to take her home.

I want that badly—I want her to beg for it because she’s at her happiest when she’s overcome—but I suspect it’s too soon for her.

Not to mention, screwing in Central Park usually results in a public citation. Public fornicators are never as clandestine as they think they are.

I nibble lightly on her bottom lip for a few seconds, drawing out a throaty murmur from her. Then I somehow find the will to separate.

She blinks. Several times. She sways the slightest bit, like her feet barely touch the ground. Good. I want her to be affected.

She furrows her brow. “I’m sorry, but do we kiss now when we see each other in the park?”

“Evidently we do.”

“Weird. Because I didn’t get that memo.”

I rock on my heels. “Want me to take it back?”

“The kiss or the memo?”

“The memo,” I say matter-of-factly, like this is all so obvious. “You can’t take a kiss back.”

“You sure on that, Nichols?”

“I can try to take back the kiss. Want me to, sweet girl?” I use the term of endearment I once called her. She doesn’t blanch, and that’s a damn good sign.

She smirks. “Be my guest.”

I kiss her once more, like I’m reversing the lip lock, doing it all in rewind, pulling away ever so slowly, ever so softly, leaving her dazed once more.

If she can drive me this crazy, make me this hard, send the temperature in my blood to beyond incendiary, the least I can do is return the favor.

Judging from her reaction, I’m doing it right.

I gesture from her to me. “Like that. I think that’s how you take back a kiss.”

Chuckling, she nods to the running path. “Ready for me to kick your ass?”

Every competitive bone in my body snaps to attention. “We’ll see about that,” I say, then I smack her pink nylon covered behind.

Her eyes widen, saying oh-no-you-didn’t.

But there’s a twinkle in those baby browns that says the lady might like spanking.

That’s new, and it’s most interesting.

I pencil in a new item on my mental to-do list. Find out how much she likes spanking. I never spanked her in college—just wasn’t part of the repertoire. But judging from her response now, I’m more determined than ever to find out everything she likes in and out of bed.

Tyler Nichols. Oh. My. God. The title is definitely apropos. This man is over the top HOT in oh so many ways. The Hot One is a read-in-one-sitting kind of story.” ~ Naughty Girls and Their Books

THE HOT ONE - RDL teaser 1

Jesus H. Christ.  Yes, I said that.  I’m slow when it comes to reading what everyone else and the mother is reading.  It’s not like I’ve resisted but since I don’t follow trends, I’m NOT a minion and I don’t suck up to authors or bloggers, my tendency to read the “known” authors is lacking.  Well, I think that my cherry has officially been popped.  I started with Mimi Jean, then Emma Chase and now Lauren Blakely.  Again, I don’t have anything against the authors, I’m just slow.  And old.  Please forgive me.  Well…let’s just say that I have bought Penny/Gabriel and Simon’s story.  I have also pre-order Nicole story.  Oh yes, I’m a completely convert now.

What made this story so HOT is the pacing.  Tyler and Delaney are the perfect couple.  They were in college and they are now.  They just needed to grow up and apart from each other to see that what they once had is even better than before.  I can’t remember exactly who said it, but their time apart made them into the adults that they are now and can appreciate the other one more completely.  Plus, this is a very slow burn sexy build up.  Sure there are a couple of scenes that were beyond hot, but they already knew that sexually they were off the charts.  This romance is about the romance itself.  Getting to know each other again.  Accepting and admitting to why they broke up and moving forward from that.

Ms. Blakely is absolutely hilarious in her delivery.  From Simon, Nicole, Penny and Clay, the secondary characters were just awesome as well.  I like a well-written rom-com that is not too heavy on the angst and Ms. Blakely definitely delivers.  Second chance romances can be tricky but I didn’t find either one of the characters irritating at all.  In fact, Tyler could have come off as an alpha jerk but he didn’t.  He owned his mistakes and his big gestures were hilarious, hot and swoon worthy.  Delaney is a breath of fresh air and the final epilogue is PERFECTION.

I’m a big believer in dual POV in romance.  I like to know what the hero and heroine think.  Ms. Blakely, again, delivers on this one.  Witty, sharp and at times laugh out loud, the dialogue between everyone is spot on.  I actually read this book in one sitting and it’s definitely on the keeper shelf.  I’m glad that I found Ms. Blakely.  She has a fun for life.  Bring on Nicole’s story.
