Sexy young couple playing in love games in a bedroom.

Have you ever been so desperate you made a decision that would haunt you forever?

Jess has.

She became a porn star.

Jess is on the run from her past. She has no friends, no life. She tries to forget everything that happened to her all those years ago. After changing her image, leaving her home and getting a new job, she’s determined it won’t happen again. If that means never being close to anyone ever again, then so be it.

If only Hunter O’Reilly didn’t make her wish things could be different.

Hunter needs this job. After being screwed over by his partner—make that ex-partner—his investigation business is on the line. Already in debt, he eagerly takes on the job of finding some stolen money at triple his going rate and all leads point in Jess’s direction. He expects problems at that price. But he doesn’t expect to fall for her.

However, no job is ever that simple. When he’s forced to spend more time with her, the lines between business and pleasure are blurred. And once Jess’s life comes under threat, they have to make a decision, can they both overcome Jess’s past?

Good lord.  A spicy, well thought out romantic suspense.  I’m in like Flynn.  I will admit that this one was a bit slow in the beginning but it needed to be.  We needed to know about Jess the “why” she went into the porn industry.  Was it pretty?  No but its not supposed to be.  I can completely understand Jess wanted to keep the secret for as long as she did.

Hunter was a study in contrast.  Hard when he needed to be and soft with Jess.  He had secrets too that he tried to keep hidden.  But one thing after another led to it.  I won’t spoil it so you will have to read the book.

Jess’s uncle is a big piece of work.  And when Hunter finally figures out that he’s a putz (sorry, he is) and then there is the matter of someone wanting to kill Jess, all bets are off.  Jess and Hunter had chemistry to burn and Ms. Holt wrote their smexy scenes with emotion and passion.  Not overly done but nicely done.

I will say that the suspense level and fast pacing of the book will keep you on your toes.  I love a suspense book that keeps moving and me guessing until the end.  Nicely done Ms. Holt.

If you are looking for a past paced, smexy romantic suspense then this book is for you.   Oh and the porn stuff…its the reason I picked up the book.  😉

Too Much To Lose - Teaser 1

Excerpt 1 PG

“If you’re in trouble, I know some people who can help.”
“I’m not in trouble. Really, I’m not. I mean who would want to kill me? I know bankers aren’t exactly popular—” she lets loose a shaky laugh “—but I’m harmless.”
Harmless? Not sure about that. Jess sends my heart racing, makes my skin clammy. She’s driving me insane. Harmless? No way.
“What do you want me to do?” I ask.
“Shall I stick around?”
“Oh. No, you don’t need to do that.”
“I don’t mind.”
“I’m fine. Seriously. Thank you for today. You must be tired and I bet your side hurts.”
It does, but I’m not going to admit to that. “It’s fine.”
“Look about that kiss….”
“That was my fault.”
“I kissed you.”
“You did.” I can’t resist letting my mouth curve upwards. She kissed me, but I don’t know if that’s a bad or a good thing. While my pride basks in it, the voice inside that keeps pulling at my gut wants to scream at her to run while she still can. I’m no good for her. “But I kissed you back,” I point out. “And I should not have been… er… touching you out there.”
She draws her bottom lip between her teeth. “It’s okay.”
Hell, how do those two tiny words send an arrow of need straight to my cock? It’s okay that I was kissing her? Or touching her up? It’s okay that I want her so badly I nearly bent her over my bike to fuck her?
Before I can dwell on it anymore and make an even bigger fool of myself, I get to my feet. “Will you let me stay?”
“I don’t think so. It’s too risky.”
A hard knot forms in my throat. I’m more dangerous to her than a crazed gunman it seems. She might be right. If—when—I find that money, her whole life is going to come crashing down.
“Don’t answer the door to anyone. Be careful. Call me if you need me. In fact, call me tomorrow.” She follows me to the door. “Please?” I add as uncertainty dashes across her face.
Jess opens the door and I step out. “I’ll call you,” she says when I turn to face her.
She rolls her eyes and her mouth curves. “I promise.”
Those lush lips snare my attention and my own smile drops. My skin feels hot and itchy, my pulse urgent. This is insane. I rest an arm against the door frame, my feet still firmly planted on the other side of the threshold and bring my mouth slowly down on hers. She softens but doesn’t touch me. We’re divided by the invisible line between the corridor and her room. I can’t help thinking of it as symbolic. We’re divided by secrets and lies.
Not that any of that matters once our lips connect. I swear I’ve never wanted to kiss a woman so much. Kisses are about the end game. But not with Jess. I want to drown in her kisses, to kiss her all day and see if I ever tire of them. I suspect it’s unlikely.

Happy young couple in love

Only One Man Will Do

by Fiona McGier

Tough-as-nails businesswoman by day, Alexandra is a biker queen by night. When a large Russian man inserts himself into her life, she follows her instincts to some explosive sex.  But he’s not willing to share her with her gang, and she’s not willing to give up other men.  When two of her bikers are killed, Dmitri is the main suspect.  How far is he willing to go to keep her to himself?  And has she really fallen in love for the first time ever…with a murderer?

Note: This is a sequel to For The Love Of His Life, now available at all of the usual outlets.  You don’t have to have read that book to enjoy this one, since both stories are complete in themselves

Excerpt One:

“Damn that woman,” Dmitri Illyanovich mumbled as he watched her get out of her SUV.

First came the high heels followed by the long length of shapely calves as she stretched her legs over the edge of the door. Her business-like skirt, normally conservatively knee-length, rode up to show her thighs clad in nylons, held up by…of all things, black garters. He shifted around in his seat, trying to stop his cock twitching like it had a mind of its own—as it did each time he caught a glimpse of her.

“This is business,” he grumbled, reminding his errant body part to behave.

Dmitri had watched her for over a week to learn her movements. It took him a long time to find her, since all he had to go on from his cousin Ivan was that she was a biker queen, had bright red hair, huge tits and a nasty tendency to demand that things be done her way or else. He’d been in countless biker bars and bought beer for many unsavory characters. He’d even fought some of them when they made it clear how much they objected to a stranger with a Slavic accent asking questions about one of their own.

If he hadn’t owed so much to his cousin Ivan for, among other things, helping him get into the United States, he might have given up. But Ivan wanted to give a wedding present to a good friend of his, and that gift involved first making sure that two drug dealers knew to stay away from the addiction-prone groom. The second part was ensuring that the biker queen, who had threatened to return someday to claim him for the night, knew that was something she should never attempt to do.

Cover_Only One Man Will DoReview:

By now you should know that Ms. McGier’s book “For The Love of His Life” and it’s still in the top 10 of best books for 2013.  Raul is such an engaging hero, warts and all and I’m still in love with the big lug.  Ms. McGier is right though, you do not have to read Raul’s story to understand Alexandra’s story at all.  She was in only one scene and that scene is talked about in this book.  🙂  But I do highly recommend Raul’s story.  It doesn’t disappoint.  😉

Alexandra is such a great heroine.  She talks like a sailor, drinks anyone and I mean anyone under the table and will screw any and all of the guys in her biker gang.   She has the “playroom” at her getaway farm to prove it.  She never thought marriage and love were for her.  She saw her parents marriage crumble and vowed to never be “owned” by a man or let a man get close enough.  Sex was just fine for her short and long-term.  Enter the biggest, baddest  and sweetest ex-KGB agent that knocks her for a loop.  All of sudden she can’t get enough of him sexually or otherwise.  Like the blurb warns you…she won’t give up her other men and Dmitri doesn’t share.

My Dmitri, my Dmitri…you had your work cut out for you with the taming of the wildcat named Alexandra or Shaska.  *sigh*  There were times that I really wanted to wrap my arms around you and tell that once Alexandra figured it out, everything would be okay.  The one scene in the book that made me love you FOREVER was at the gathering at the farm.  You stood up to her and yes, humiliated her but she needed to see that you were serious.  Of course, she paid the price during the night and the next morning but she needed that to truly show her that you meant business.

What was interesting was the suspense element at the end of the book.  I honestly didn’t figure it out until it was revealed and I was shocked by all of it.  I didn’t expect it and I’m still crying over it.  One thing it did was show the tremendous character growth of Alexandra.  She needed the jolt in her life and she finally figured out what was missing and how much she had short-changed herself in the long run.

I need to warn you peeps that this book has a lot and I mean a lot of sex in it.  These two can not get enough of each other.  That said, it’s not overly graphic in nature.  Sure they are bunnies but there is a point to it.  For me, too much sex takes away from the story but for Alexandra its an extension of who she is now in her life and it made sense.  Dmitri’s goal was to tame her and in some ways he did but he never changed her.  Alexandra had to finally come to grips with issues that she had in her life and Dmitri was there to catch her and support her.

I could go on about this book but I must stop.  You really, really need to read it.  Be warned…lots of cussing, sex and taming of a redheaded wildcat.  Plus, you might cry at the end and then cheer.

Oh and there is an epilogue!  Woot!!!!  I literally dropped my Kindle when I read it.  Perfect wrap up and yes, Ivan’s next.  LOL!

Fiona has always had stories in her head.  Characters intrude into her thoughts and insist on showing her scenes from their lives.  She discovered that when she ignores them, they start to yell louder; if she writes their stories and they can live in readers’ heads as well, they usually leave her alone…only to be replaced by a new group of story-tellers.  Her head is usually a very crowded place, but she likes it that way.

This book is a sequel to For The Love Of His Life.

Review of Friends with Partial Benefits by Luke Young

theseriesBest friends Jillian Grayson and Victoria Wilde could not be more different. Victoria, a young widow who has really gotten on with her life, is wild, carefree, and living life to the fullest while Jillian, recently divorced, is a bestselling romance novelist who is straight-laced, proper, and reserved. That is until Jillian meets Brian Nash, the young, hunky best friend of her college-aged son. These two women provide the vantage point on the hilarious and steamy world of the Friends With… Benefits. Filled with strong, sexy women and fun-loving, real men, the books are at once playful and very sexy; light but large-hearted. If you love sexy contemporary romance with a healthy dose of fun then this series is for you.

synopsis1Jillian Grayson is a disillusioned divorcée and best-selling romance novelist who suddenly can’t write a chapter without her hunky male heartthrob suffering ED, an STD, or even worse. Brian Nash is a tennis-obsessed college senior who’s unlucky in love and the roommate and best friend of Jillian’s son, Rob. When Rob brings Brian home for Spring Break, and Brian meets the surprisingly young and tennis passionate Jillian, their shared interest quickly develops into an intense mutual attraction. After nearly giving in to their feelings, they hatch a plan, while under the influence (of something more than just the perfect Miami night), to be Friends With Partial Benefits, complete with rules to define the boundaries. Will the lonely pair continue with this distinctive relationship, actually explore their desires, or discover all of it is a really bad idea?

I dare anyone that has read Alice Clayton NOT to read Luke Young.  I dare you and come back and let’s talk.  🙂  Mr. Young has written a fresh book that deals with the “cougar” trope, do we tell my son, your best friend and what will my friends think but OMG, the sex is so good.  I swear there were parts of the book that I had tears rolling down my face from laughter.

I read this book when it was first published and then (hangs head) forget about the other books in the series.  When I got my updated copy, I wasn’t sure that it measure up to the original.  It did and more.  I will warn you though, the sex was hotter in the original but in the updated version, the relationships and the emotional connections were more.  I’m glad that I’ve read both versions and no, I’m not going to tell which version I liked best.  🙂  I mean come on…Mr. Young made tennis sexy and it hasn’t been sexy since Andre and Pete.  At least in my opinion.

I wish I could tell certain parts of the book that I would end up spoiling for you and I can not highly recommend that you buy this book and read it and come talk about it with me.  It will stay with you for the humor, smexy times, but above all, its not your typical cougar romance.  This book has heart and the friendships that are in the book, too.  Victoria is a riot but can come off as an Alpha *itch but she will grow on you.  Plus, the snippets from the book that Jillian is trying to write…I HAVE NO WANT to read it, in its entirty.  Please, Mr. Young…let us you poor readers have that book to read.

Overall, I loved, loved this book.  It was one of the most heartfelt, laugh out loud funny as crap books that I have read in a while.  Plus, Brian is HAWT!!!!  Just saying…

excerpt2Jillian Grayson sat up in bed, typing away on the keyboard of her laptop computer. She wore a nightshirt that wasn’t all that sexy, but what she was typing was… or at least it started out that way…

Dallas lay in bed, unable to sleep and wondering if Katrina was suffering the same fate—and for the very same reason. Did she want him as much as he wanted her? Katrina was but a few steps away, yet he dare not go to her, for he was a guest, and then there was Katrina’s mother, who was just across the hall. For Dallas, sleep came minutes later, but it would be short- lived, for soon Katrina stood over him, completely nude and pondering how to proceed…

Dallas must have been in a deep sleep, since he didn’t feel it when Katrina peeled the sheet carefully off him, exposing his muscular body, six-pack abs, and sizeable manhood. She quivered when his impressiveness sprang into view. For a long time, she kneeled next to the bed, just studying his body and savoring his scent. Taking his sex into her hand, Katrina worked it until it was rigid while she watched him sleep. When Dallas woke, he looked into her eyes, swallowed hard, and whispered, “I’ve been waiting for you.”

Just as fast as his sex expanded, it lost its firmness and flopped against his leg. Katrina looked down at it in disappointment and then moaned in frustration. “What’s wrong?”

Dallas said sheepishly, “Sometimes that happens to me. Sorry. Ever since I cheated on my wife with that whore in the pool, I haven’t been able to—”

Jillian stopped typing and thought she might be heading in the wrong direction with this. How did her ex-husband get into the story? But then again, most men are assholes, she thought.

Picking up the glass of wine from her nightstand, she took a long sip and then replaced it. She highlighted the last paragraph about Dallas’s problem, hit one key, and it was gone. Just like his boner. She laughed out loud.

Jillian wasn’t exactly in the correct frame of mind to write at the moment, especially on this particular subject. She stared straight ahead and wondered about the likelihood of Dallas slipping in the shower, striking his head, and dying instantly. Or maybe an earthquake could strike, and Dallas’s amazingly perfect body would be trapped under a giant beam.

What the hell kind of name was Dallas anyway? She thought she might want to give her character a real name like Stewart but figured no one would believe that a guy named Stewart could give you six consecutive orgasms in one night.

What was she doing, anyway, writing novels about people having amazing sex when she’d never had any? Okay, maybe once or twice twenty years ago, but none since then. She had no right. If people knew that she was the one writing these books, they wouldn’t buy them. She was a fraud.

Jillian picked up her wineglass and took another long drink. She grinned, wiped those unhelpful thoughts from her mind, and started typing again…

Katrina took his sex in her hand and worked it until it was rigid. As she studied it closely, Katrina noticed two red bumps on the underside of his pathetic excuse for a penis. She recoiled in horror

Jillian hit the backspace key to erase everything after Dallas’s “sex” started expanding. Romance novels about erectile dysfunction and STDs weren’t exactly big sellers. She closed the lid on the laptop and tossed it gently onto a pillow at the foot of the bed. She emptied her wineglass with one last sip and turned on the television.
