Blurb for SEE ME by Natalie-Nicole Bates

Carly Anders  is hearing voices in her head. Another one of her kind is trying to contact her. She knows of the malevolent freaks—others who are eternal like her and seek out the weak to inflict pain upon. For years, Carly has held up huge protective walls to keep herself and her secrets safe. Now, physically and mentally exhausted, Carly needs protection and rest.

She accepts the invitation to visit an internet friend who needs help appraising a collection of antique photographs.  The situation is not ideal, but Carly hopes a male presence in her life will deter the determined suitor who haunts her thoughts and dreams.

Daniel Tremont is not what Carly is expecting.

The former funeral director has a secret of his own. Not only is he eternal like Carly, he is her creation from all those years before—her abomination she thought she killed.

Daniel has been searching for Carly for years. He knows she is the piece of his life that he has been missing for so long. Now that he has found her, he has no intentions of letting her go.

Excerpt #1

Carly Anders.

If she was the Carly he expected her to be, decades ago she had been Charlotte Hopkins. Like him, she likely changed identities multiple times and moved from place to place over the years to avoid suspicion. Only recently had he reverted to his given name, Daniel Tremont. It was a bit inexplicable, but he needed to reclaim himself even if only for a few years.

It was around that time he felt an unrelenting need to connect with Charlotte again. He belonged to her and she belonged to him. It was that simple. Now he had to figure out a way to make her to see that. It was Fate. It was destiny.

When she saw him again, would she know they were one in the same? He couldn’t come right out and blurt the truth to her. She might bolt, and never come back to him. It was the reason he opted to contact her under the pretense he was putting together a book of rare, post mortem photographs. He needed an expert to help him date the collection he had acquired as well as appraise their value. After all, she was an expert on the subject of death, just as he.

He had slowly been courting her friendship for months via email. They bonded over their mutual interest in vintage photographs. When he approached the idea of her visiting to help with dating his photos, he expected a swift negative reply.

But she agreed.

  1. Great excerpt! Now I’m curious how their meeting will go. Some authors like to listen to music while writing. Do you have some songs that inspire you?
