He saved her life…

But will he destroy her dreams?

Firefighter Rand Nelson is tall and handsome and has literally walked through an inferno for Beatrice Wilcox. He’s a hero…and that’s exactly the problem. Beatrice knows all too well the risks of loving a man with a dangerous career. But when Rand’s report threatens her beloved children’s camp, Beatrice can’t refuse his offer of help…even though she knows they’re both playing with fire.

Other Books in the Series

If you haven’t figured out, this line from Harlequin is one of my all time favorites.  A clean romance that is heartfelt, emotional, at times funny that transports me to a happier place.  And this from someone that doesn’t watch the Hallmark Channel.  Ms. Lanigan is also one of my favorite authors.  Her writing just flows off the page and her characters come to life for me.  I realize that this is book number 10 in the series but you can start here without any problems.

What drew me into Rand and Bea’s story were their hangups when it came to what made them afraid to love anyone or be loved in return.  Especially, Bea.  Man, talk about rough.  And at times, I really wanted to shake her.  I understood it but it was becoming a bit annoying.  But again, I did understand but she was a bit harsh towards Rand at times.  I didn’t think he deserved it at all, if not at all.  Rand, on the other hand, was a bit easier to take.  I could understand his issues much better.  Fighting fires is what he does but he realizes pretty quickly how much Bea means to him.  Plus, with the addition of Eli and Chris, he’s a goner.

This series is just outright fantastic.  The introduction of Rand and Bea is a welcome addition to the Indian Shores family.  Ms. Beabots is still there and I loved it that I got to see Mica and family from Paris.  The romance between Rand and Bea is real and the back and forth left my head spinning at times and I really worried if they would actually get together.  I had no doubt what would happen to Eli and Chris but I still sniffled.

Do yourself a favor and read this series and particularly this book.  It has heart, some serious issues that need to be dealt with but overall, I sniffled, sighed and I’m thinking about Rand and Bea.  That’s great storytelling.
