Heir to his family’s global empire, branding genius Miguel Astacio turns everything into marketing gold. Only his best friend’s sister seems immune to his magic touch. Until Tanya Carrington comes to him to save her floundering nightclub. Miguel is ready to rectify past mistakes. But will his supreme sacrifice win the heart of the woman he loves?

Read an Excerpt:

Firm hands held her by the shoulders and turned her around before she could grip the handle of the door. When he pulled her in close, she pressed her hands against his chest and tried to push away. She really did, but ended up gripping the lapels of his suit jacket so she could rest her head against his broad chest.

For the first time since the night he’d destroyed her, she released the pain she’d been holding in. The sobs shook her body as he rubbed her back. She cried so hard that his words were lost on her, but the calming vibrations passing into her chest soothed. When the dam finally closed, she sniffled as the hiccups made their unfortunate appearance.

He released her and looked down into what must look like a monstrous mess of a face. Wiping the tears from her cheeks with the pads of his thumbs, her heart stilled when for the briefest of moments, he angled his head as if he was coming in for a kiss. Her captured breath burned within her lungs in anticipation, ready to relive his soft lips pressed to hers. Her nipples tightened at the prospect. Without warning, he stepped away.

Leading her to the couch, he sat her down and handed her a box of tissues. The unladylike sound that came when she blew her nose didn’t make her feel any more comfortable. He went to the refrigerator, took out a bottle of water and twisted off the cap before handing it to her.

Tanya gulped the liquid to reduce the flame of mortification heating her head while she avoided his gaze. Had she actually thought he’d kiss her? She may have lost weight and looked okay, but he could have any woman in the world. Why would he want her? She’d never forget how he’d treated her.

You know what?  I love this line from Harlequin.  How else was I going to find Ms. Prah, Ms. Jackson, Ms. Perrin, Ms. Alexander, and Ms. Ryan.  I’ve been reading this line for a long time and then suddenly they decide that it’s not worthy anymore?  But I digress.  Anyway, let me tell you all about the love for this book that I have.

First, it was just a fun book to read.  It has the best friend’s sister and second chance tropes that I love but more importantly, it deals with some very realistic topics that some writers would have the guts to tackle.  Body images and not feeling worthy of love and then, too much partying and the #metoo.  But before you go all crazy, I will let you know that Miguel is exonerated but it follows him everywhere.  I know, I just told you a spoiler but you needed to know.

Tanya just cracked me up at times.  Tougher than nails but very vulnerable when it came to Miguel, I understood why she didn’t trust him until the very end.  Sure, the sex was great and being able to forgive him came easy but she still had that little nugget of self-doubt and trust me, I GOT her.  I had major body issues like her and didn’t feel like anyone would love me.  Enter my now husband.  Yep, I gotcha girl.  But she was also intelligent and likable.  Her talks with her brother, Josh were great, too.  And Becca.  Hilarious!

Miguel is a delight.  He knows what he wants but doesn’t go all Alpha on Tanya.  He is a patient man but realizes almost too late that his life, his past could be his undoing with her.  The big gesture at the party made me tear up.  I knew that song.  *sigh*  But he had me from the beginning of the book.  He also realized his mistakes from his past and owned up to them.  He had matured and wasn’t afraid to show that to Tayna.

I’m in love with his brother, Nando.  I MUST read his book.  And he was only in it for like two scenes.

Peeps, I’m so sorry that this line is going away.  The authors that I have found there are exceptional and Ms. Prah hits this one on a high note for me.  This is slow burn romance but once it ignites…dang.  🙂

*psst*  I’ve read her other non-Harlequin books, too.  Check them out.
