Will the woman he left behind a decade ago be His Salvation?
Seth McCullough left behind his high school sweetheart, Krista Chancellor, determined to keep her safe. Running from his own demons, Seth joined the military, hoping for a new start.
Ten years later, after experiencing psychological and physical trauma, Seth takes a trip to Mexico for rest and relaxation. Waking up one morning confused, bloody, and linked to multiple high profile murders, Seth is sure he’s lost what little sanity he has left. Determined to find answers, Seth reaches out to the only person he ever trusted, his old flame, Krista.
Now, Krista and Seth find themselves embroiled in an agenda too terrifying to comprehend. Not sure who to trust, and looking for answers, will the woman he left behind over a decade ago be His Salvation, or his ruin?
PLEASE NOTE: This is the second edition. It has extensive rewrites and has been re-edited.
As you know that I love romantic suspense, so I’m very picky. This book delivered what I want and need in a romantic suspense book. While the smexy parts aren’t plentiful, this story deals with childhood sweethearts reconnecting after years of being apart and to the “way” things were left. The book starts off with a bang, so the twist mid-way through the book was a kicker. I lurved it. Ms. King knows how to drop a bomb on her readers and makes it completely plausible. Once things are figured out with Seth, the plot never lets you go.
Seth and Krista are childhood sweethearts that parted under different circumstances. Ms. King doesn’t let them have a fight but realizing that Seth and Krista will be going into different directions she lets the relationship just end. Without tears and begging. Years later, Seth knows that Krista is the only person that can help him with what is going on and just prays that she will.
Krista is a great heroine. Strong, smart and still having a soft spot for Seth, she agrees. Seth is a sweetie, too. Always knowing that something was “wrong” with him, he knew that he didn’t like it but needed help. I wish that I could tell you the big plot twist but then I would totally spoil the book for you. Hence, the runaround on the review. All I can say is that the twist is huge, frightening and in my mind, realistic. But then again, I cut my teeth on Tom Clancy books so I’m up for anything.
If you are looking for an action packed, suspenseful, thrilling second chance romance, then this is for you. Ms. King delivers the goods in spades and I look forward to reading more from her. She just “gets” me in what I love about romantic suspense. Krista and Seth have a place in my heart forever and I’m happy that I’ve discoverd another great author for me to read.
