Harlequin Presents Key Elements

A hero who will command and seduce. There’s nothing in the world his powerful authority and money can’t buy… except the love of a woman strong enough to tame him!

A Harlequin Presents heroine isn’t afraid to stand up to the hero in her own way, whether she’s at home in his opulent world or not. She can be shy and innocent, feisty and daring or anywhere in between.

These stories are pure romantic fantasy with glitzy, glamorous, international settings to upstage even the swankiest of red-carpet premieres!

High sensuality and sky-rocketing sexual tension to quicken your pulse

Captivating internal emotional conflicts that will sustain the story over 50,000 words.

Tone should be contemporary but with a strong intensity, delivering an instant hit of powerful emotion

Give classic themes a fresh 21st century twist – tease, surprise and delight.

Featured in Presents

Harlequin Presents has classic themes, but we’re looking for innovative takes. What would you say if a billionaire demanded you agree to a marriage of convenience? Does a secret baby have to mean a shot-gun wedding? He might have a legendary playboy reputation, but what if she’s just as notorious? Our heroes are 100% alpha but that doesn’t mean they’re perfect. Sheikh, Greek, Russian, Italian, English, American…wherever he’s from, it’s certain that he turns the heads of every woman he passes!

Harlequin Presents is…

The home of the alpha male.
A whirlwind of intensely emotional highs and lows.
International settings from your every fantasy!

I know what y’all are thinking?  Harlie, seriously Presents?  That’s the line that our Mother/Grandmother/Aunt read and then we swipped from them to read.

I will admit that I don’t read Presents has much anymore but I do have my favorite Presents authors.  Sarah Morgan is the one of the best in this line.  I “found” Nicola Marsh, Jane Porter, Heidi Rice and Kate Hewitt.

I will admit that the UBER Alpha male can get on my nerves but when I need my sheikh, Italian, Greek man fix I head straight over to Presents.  These books are perfect getaways to locales that are exotic, lush and opulent.  Plus, come on we all have had the Princess complex at least once in our lives.  I still believe in the HEA for everyone even the UBER Alpha that just can’t hush up sometimes.  🙂

Review:

Oh my…when I picked up this book at Walmart, I knew I was in for a treat.  Besides the fact that Sarah Morgan wrote it but also since the couple was technically married, the emotional payoff was going to be big and satisfying.

Ms. Morgan can write a Presents.  You locales are lush, her heroes are Uber wealthy, sexy and demanding.  With Christiano we also get a man so completely in love with his wife that its beyond his comprehension that she wants a divorce from him.  He thinks that when Laurel shows up for his sister’s wedding that signing the papers would be easy but once he sees her again, he’s lost and demands to know the WHY.

Laurel knows logically why she wants the marriage to end but her heart is telling her otherwise.  Still in love with Christiano, she thinks her only option is to divorce and never remember what had happened two years ago.

This is a story about trust, honesty, forgiveness and above all the power of love.   Yes, should Laurel have been honest with Christiano in the beginning…sure.  Was he being a hardheaded Sicilian man for not understanding Laurel two years ago?  But of course, but that’s what makes their reunion that much sweeter for me.

Once the unvarnished truth comes out from Laurel, Christiano is crushed.  He realizes the mistakes that he made two years ago and sets out to right the wrong.  *sigh*  He is the ultimate sigh worthy hero when he admits his mistake and begs for the second chance.

I highly recommend Once a Ferrara Wife for the  emotional conversations that these two have with one another.  These are two people that are truly in love with each other but are too prideful to admit to the mistakes made years ago but see that true love, honesty and above all true communication are the key to a happy marriage.
