Eternity by Tmonique Stephens – Review

Cursed for 2000 years, Roman Nicolis has tracked his lovers’ soul through each reincarnation only to lose her horribly every time. Reclaiming their love is his only salvation. He’s been her friend, her father, her neighbor, but never again her lover . . . until now.

A late night walk home throws Stella Walker into the path of a killer. The last thing she remembers are the deep blue eyes of the man trying to kill her—and the first things she sees after a seven day coma are the same blue eyes in the handsome face of the man hired to protect her. Is he truly the owner of a security firm assigned to protect her or the man who wants to finish her off? Is it fears she feels when Roman touches her or the memory of something sweeter? She will have to push past her fears and reclaim a love that has lasted two millennia.

Past secrets haunt them. An angry demon stalks them.

Roman will do anything to recover what they had. Though Stella’s ruined childhood has made her close her heart and body to any man, he must get past the walls around her to gain her love and trust, for it will take their union to defeat an unexpected enemy sent from the Egyptian Gods. A man Romans respects, and Stella trusts.

Review:

As most people know, I’m pretty particular when it comes to paranormal anymore.  I blame the sparkly vampires for that one.  So when I was asked to read Eternity, I didn’t know what to except.  Is he a vampire, demon, or fae?  I knew he wasn’t a werewolf, so I was good so far.  No offense to all of my were buddies out there but I’m a tad burnt out.

The book starts with Stella being hunted and nearly dying at the hand of some crazed man.  What she doesn’t realize is that she is the only surviving victim of a serial killer.  Got your attention?  Well, its much more than that my fellow readers.  This serial killer is from another time and place with ties to the Egyptian Gods.  No worries, the world building is slow enough for even me who knows absolutely NOTHING about Egyptian Gods except for watching the movie “The Mummy”.  There are many players in the world with brothers, gods, mothers and reincarnation in the book.

I never felt overwhelmed when the action would switch back and forth.  It made for a much richer read.  I hate when authors start to world build and then drop it all together.  I will say that there is violence in the book but its too graphic.  There is a point to it but it still made me cringe.

I adored Stella and Roman.   I was cheering for them from the get go and I never wavered.  Stella didn’t have the greatest of upbringings but she did what she could and I felt it made her stronger, not weak.  Yes, in her personal relationships she was closed but as a person she was strong and grew only stronger.

Roman, Roman…where can I get one of those?  To haunted by one woman for over 2000 years and to be so close to her over those years to lose her again?  A normal man would go insane but not Roman.  He just plugging away with his life until he is approached to protect Stella after her attack.  In that one moment when he looked at her, he knew it was her.  Loving her was easy, convincing her of his love would take some time.

I can not stress how much I loved this story.  It was well paced, had characters that I fell in love with and connected with from the beginning and the world that Ms. Stephens has drawn is different and it will hold your interest.  An added plus for me was that this book was a different kind of paranormal with the suspense element that I so crave in a book.  🙂

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.  She left me hanging about Lever, Reign, Daniel, Trane and the rest of the brothers.  Plus, what the heck happened to Bianca?  Just saying.
