The New York Times bestselling author of the “swoonworthy and addicting” (Kim Karr, New York Times bestselling author) Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club series is back with more bad boy bikers in this first novel in the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club series.

Erin Dawson had the perfect life growing up in a perfect home with a perfect family. Her parents gave her and her sister everything a child could want. But after learning that the man she’s called “dad” her whole life isn’t actually her biological father, Erin is determined to find the man who is.

Armed with her original birth certificate, she finds her father, but begins questioning if her mom had been right all along to keep this information buried. It turns out he is the president of a motorcycle club, which could not be further from the life Erin leads. But, she’s determined to get to know the man who she gets her striking blue eyes from. Despite getting what she wants and finding her biological father, it’s the slightly older, much rougher but incredibly sexy biker Ace that catches Erin’s eye.

As the new “princess” of the Cursed Ravens, Erin is learning a whole new world, but her father has made it clear she is off limits. Will Ace follow his President’s orders or will he put his heart ahead of his duty? A sizzling tale of family and passion, Ace of Hearts features Fernando’s signature “snark and sass” (Booklist) and is perfect for fans of Kristin Ashley.

So I know that I’m a day late in posting the review.  Baseball is taking over my life right now.  The kid made all-stars and hubs is the coach.  But still, that’s no excuse.  Before I tell you how much I LOVED this book, I need to make a confession.  Actually, a few.

  1.  I’m an MC virgin.  Shut up.  Seriously.  I don’t read the books but with my girl Chantal writing, I knew that she would treat me right.
  2.  I’m glad that my cherry is popped.  That said, it might take some convincing for me to read anyone else’s MC stories.
  3.  How knew that an MC book would be hilarious, smart and completely relatable.  Yes, relatable.

Why is the book relatable?  Erin is NO pushover.  Sure finding out that your biological dad is a president of an MC club and that your mother has lied to you seems far fetched but really?  Not so much.  Okay, maybe the MC part but finding out that you are adopted, etc. isn’t that uncommon anymore.  I loved how Ms. Fernando handled it.  Gage and her mom didn’t take it well in the beginning and Erin just didn’t know what to think when she walked into the house but dang…that was a great first impression.  In fact, I would have to say that the scenes with Erin in the house at the beginning of the book are what sold me on the story and the whole series.  Truly.  But I have a confession to make, I love Ms. Fernando.  I devoured her Lawyers series so I took a chance with this one.

Ace is filthy (in a good way) and Erin is pure.  Darkness to the light but in my opinion, Ace isn’t that dark.  In fact, I thought he was adorable.  He isn’t the bad*ss biker that he thinks he is.  In fact, Rogue, Knuckles, Gage (Erin’s dad) and Ace are just sweeties in my book.  In the beginning, their personas are for us to see but deep down, they all have hearts of gold.  What I really liked about this world, is that Ms. Fernando doesn’t go into much at all.  We hear what they do for money and what price you might pay for being there but the Ravens are just a big family that has issues like everyone else.  I especially liked the ending of the book when things are revealed to us about certain members and honestly, I don’t think we have seen the last of them.  I hope not because they could cause so serious headaches later.  Always, what up with Erin’s dormmate Clover?  I think that she is somehow connected to them.

One of the reasons why I have stayed away from MC books is the violence and sex.  I know, shake your head at me.  But really?  Do they need to have smexy times within the first 25% of the book?  I loved how Ace and Erin really got to know each other with just kissing and teasing.  Makes the buildup that much sweeter and hotter.  Trust me, when these two start, they don’t stop and its hawt.  Ms. Fernado does that with her characters.  We get to know them, appreciate them and invest our time with them before.  Also, she doesn’t drag out the black moment/conflict.  While it’s not easy for Erin and Ace to get to the end, Ms. Fernando doesn’t do angst.  Her characters are grownups and let them behave as such.

Erin is probably my favorite heroine that she has written.  I just loved her.  Ace…is definitely swoon-worthy but he is also a man in love for the first and last time and doesn’t know what to do.  Nor does he want to piss off her dad, his president.  Makes for great conflict but also some truly sassy, snarky and relatable moments with them and the other members.

I can.not wait for Knuckles and Rogue’s books.  We are in for a sweet treat.  And thank you Ms. Fernando for the great intro into the world of MC.  And yes, I do have some of her other MC series books but I’ve been too scared to read them.  Not anymore.

Bad Boy Rancher

Contemporary Romance
Paperback & ebook, 368 pages

He’s not the only one who needs saving…

But maybe they can save each other?

Dark, brooding, dangerous…and possibly suicidal. Renegade rancher Justin Cade was exactly the kind of man former army chaplain Brielle Thompson needed to avoid after escaping the horrors of Afghanistan with an honorable discharge—and PTSD. The whole point of moving to the remote Rocky Mountains of Colorado was to leave the darkness behind, not fall back into it. But falling she is…

EXCERPT

Are you ready to go?” There was a brief catch in Brielle’s voice as Justin tucked her loose scarf into her coat collar.

“There’s something I want to show you first.”

“Maybe another time.” She twisted a cross pinned to the lapel of her jacket. “I’ve still got work to finish and—”

Her words cut off as he laced his fingers in hers. “Work will be there in the morning.

This won’t.”

An exclamation of white blew from her lips. “Why’s my seeing this important to you?” He cupped her chin. “Don’t know, it just is.

Will you come?”

Her wide eyes probed his, her teeth worrying her bottom lip. “What are you going to

show me?”

“The moon.”

She peered up at the sky. “I can see it just fine.”

“Yeah. But can you touch it?”

Her lips curved as she shook her head. “You’re being silly, you know that.”

“It’s part of my charm,” he drawled, and her smile widened, her ease around him filling him with warmth. He was used to pushing people away. Brielle, however, refused to be budged. She just kept coming for him, and he liked that about her. A lot.

“Okay. Let’s go,” she said. “Must be I’m crazy, too.”

Something he couldn’t identify, light and sparkling, spun through his chest as he led her up a path through dark woods. What was he doing?

Darned if he knew.

He just didn’t want to let her go so quick. Not when a large orange moon hung low and heavy in the sky, flooding the world with magic, filling a lonely man’s heart with longing for what couldn’t be…except on a night like this.

Yall this series.  I’m telling you, READ IT!!!  Ms. Rock nailed Justin to a tee.  Okay, so I may be partial to Ms. Rock because I’ve read her since she started but every one of her books in this series is heartfelt, at times funny, the men are sexy as heck and the heroines are perfect for them.  Every couple has baggage and it’s quite a ride to see them work it out separately and then together for the all-important HEA.

Justin and Brille are no exception to this rule.  Justin is one wounded soul.  Losing a twin is devasting but to blame yourself is even worse.  The downward spiral that he is taking is awful but I could understand him and his self-loathing.  But instead of Ms. Rock beating us over the head with it, she brings out the real Justin and it is a joy to watch.  Finding a good woman will do that to you.  Brille is a Godsend.  No pun intended.  She’s just as broken as Justin but with the love and trust of a good man, she figures it out.

Both of them are dealing with some very serious issues and Ms. Rock doesn’t sugarcoat them.  She brings into play, Al-Alon (a great organization) and even the Loveland’s make appearances and I’m loving how they are woven into the Cade’s stories.  The Cade’s are beginning to understand them a bit better but I’m not sure if it will all be for the good or not.

I can’t encourage you to read this series.  You do not have to read them order but I would.  Yes, they are that good and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

p.s.  Sorry, it’s late.
