Other Books in the Series

If you haven’t figured out, this line from Harlequin is one of my all time favorites.  A clean romance that is heartfelt, emotional, at times funny that transports me to a happier place.  And this from someone that doesn’t watch the Hallmark Channel.  Ms. Lanigan is also one of my favorite authors.  Her writing just flows off the page and her characters come to life for me.  I realize that this is book number 10 in the series but you can start here without any problems.

What drew me into Rand and Bea’s story were their hangups when it came to what made them afraid to love anyone or be loved in return.  Especially, Bea.  Man, talk about rough.  And at times, I really wanted to shake her.  I understood it but it was becoming a bit annoying.  But again, I did understand but she was a bit harsh towards Rand at times.  I didn’t think he deserved it at all, if not at all.  Rand, on the other hand, was a bit easier to take.  I could understand his issues much better.  Fighting fires is what he does but he realizes pretty quickly how much Bea means to him.  Plus, with the addition of Eli and Chris, he’s a goner.

This series is just outright fantastic.  The introduction of Rand and Bea is a welcome addition to the Indian Shores family.  Ms. Beabots is still there and I loved it that I got to see Mica and family from Paris.  The romance between Rand and Bea is real and the back and forth left my head spinning at times and I really worried if they would actually get together.  I had no doubt what would happen to Eli and Chris but I still sniffled.

Do yourself a favor and read this series and particularly this book.  It has heart, some serious issues that need to be dealt with but overall, I sniffled, sighed and I’m thinking about Rand and Bea.  That’s great storytelling.

Happy Book Birthday & #ARC Review of Eagle (a Linear Tactical novel #2) by Janie Crouch @janiecrouch #romanticsuspense

Title: Eagle
A Linear Tactical Standalone
Author: Janie Crouch
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: October 30, 2018

Blurb

Finn Bollinger.
Military codename: EAGLE.
A single dad, a warrior, a hero.
For Charlotte Devereux he’s also the man whose heart she broke years before. And now, he’s her only chance for survival.
When former Special Forces soldier Finn Bollinger is asked to help with an undercover mission, he’s up for the task. His job teaching survival skills to civilians at Linear Tactical keeps him sharp, and he can still handle himself in the field.
But the Army damn well didn’t teach Finn how to handle Charlotte Devereux. She’s back and she’s all sorts of bad news.
Charlotte can’t change the past. Can’t change the choices she made or the fact that they cost her everything. All she can do is endure the fallout. Even if that means putting her future in the hands of Finn, the man who has every right to want to destroy her.
And can in so many more ways than he thinks.
When Finn’s undercover mission goes impossibly wrong, he’ll have to depend on Charlotte’s strength in order to survive. But everyone has a breaking point.
He’s fighting for what’s right.
She’s fighting just to survive…

This book had all the feels.  Childhood sweethearts, second chance romance.  Add top-notch suspense, a plot that is plausible yet heartbreaking at times and Ms. Crouch has just moved up my ladder of all time favorite authors.  I’m not going to lie though, I’m still new to her books but with this series, I’m sold.  She brings the heat, the friendships, the love and just the right amount of suspense that I love in a romantic suspense book.

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m a romantic suspense junkie.  I cut my teeth on Cherry Adair, Julie Miller, Tom Clancy, and the entire roster of Harlequin Intrigue authors throughout all the years but Ms. Crouch just flat out delivers in this series.  Her secondary characters are wonderfully written and not intrusive.  Charlie and Finn are a couple that just NEED to be together.  They complete each other and they know it.  Ethan, Finn’s son, is just the icing on the cake for them.  He’s cute but super important to Finn and Charlie’s relationship.  She needs a chance and he needs to trust again.  Ethan is the link.

If I had one complaint about the book is that I really needed some closure on her job status.  I would go any further than that but I felt it needed to be addressed.  There is so much about the book that I could talk about.  Topless bars, Aiden and his book ties into this one and we get to see Annie and Zac again.  *swoon*  Yes, I’m still in love with him.  I love Finn, too but there is something about Zach.  Charlie is such a kick *ss heroine.  She never gives up and I loved that.  She could have many times but she didn’t.  Finn didn’t give up either.  He just needed to have the answers before he could fully commit.

Overall, I just loved this book and the series.  I can’t wait for Aiden’s book next.  This series just gets better and better.  And don’t worry.  Each book is a stand alone.

Happy Book Birthday & ARC #Review of The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant, book 2 by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff w/a rafflecopter giveaway! #mystery @MimiJeanRomance

The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant, book #2

Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

Synopsis:

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a humorous, standalone mystery, The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant, Book 2. (Yep! It’s a standalone. The boring title is just to mess with you!)

HOW MUCH LONGER CAN HE KEEP HIS SECRET AND HIS FAVORITE HUMAN SAFE?

Michael Vanderhorst has always been a lone wolf. Or lone vampire? Whatever. Point is, this ancient gentleman vampire is obsessed. She’s quirky, a horrible dresser, and the cutest librarian he’s ever seen. The question is, why her? In four hundred years, no one has ever captured his attention like this. He must find out, which is why he just signed on as her new assistant.

The problem is, she has no idea vampires exist or that she’s just broken one of their laws. As the leader of his territory, Michael has been ordered by his council to turn her or kill her. “Over my dead body!”

To overturn the ruling, Michael needs the council on his side, and right now they’re asking him to hunt down and execute five hundred vampires no one can seem to locate. Unfortunately, his assassin days are long over, and he’s not so sure he can go back to killing.

But with Miriam’s life on the line and their unusual bond growing stronger each day, will he dust off the old sword or give her the bite that will make her his forever?

Y’all this book.  This series.  I don’t normally read comedic mysteries with a dash of romance but Mimi sold me with the first book in the series.  Michael was a hoot then and he’s even better in this book.  Lulu is back, too.  I didn’t know what to think about her until the end.  Mr. Nice is just as hilarious, too.  His obsession with “Fanged Love” is right on the money and let’s not forget about Miriam.  I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get to see much of her in the book until the end but it was worth it.

This book was a bit darker in some of the content but I liked that.  It explained a bit more of the world that Mimi is building and Viviana, Michael’s new assistant is perfect in the book.  I really liked how Ms. Mimi made her a central character in Michael’s work.  Plus, I just loved her.  She’s a badass but in a very quiet way.  Plus, I visualize her as:

Anyway, as the blurb says, this is a stand-alone and Mimi lets you know what happened in the first book without the info dump.  I truly forgot how much fun that book was but in a sense, this book wasn’t has fun, just better.  The characters were more fleshed out, we get closure on some things but the last line in the book is a doozy.  I expected it and no, I’m NOT happy that I have to wait until next year for the conclusion but I’m patient…somewhat.

I highly recommend this book to anyone.  It’s that good and there isn’t all the romance, foul language that comes with most books.  This is a departure for Mimi but that’s what makes this series so great.  She wrote it tongue in cheek with a bit of vampire, family issues, and an awesome mystery that hooks from beginning to end.  Pick it up.  Buy it for your grandmother.  She’ll love it.  Trust me.

The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant – is ON SALE

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a Horribly Sunny Mystery, The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant.

NOBODY MESSES WITH HIS LIBRARIAN. . .

Who killed Michael Vanderhorst’s maker? It’s a darn good question. But when the trail brings Michael to hellishly sunny Phoenix, Arizona, his biggest problem soon becomes a cute little librarian he can’t seem to stay away from. He’s never met a bigger danger magnet! Even her book cart has it out for her. And is that the drug cartel following her around, too? “Dear God, woman! What have you gotten yourself into?”

Things go from bad to worse when local vampires won’t play nice.

Can this four-hundred-year-old vampire keep his librarian safe and himself out of hot water? Can he bring his maker’s killer to justice? Yesterday, he would’ve said yes. But yesterday, he didn’t have a strange connection with a librarian. Yesterday, people weren’t trying to kill her.
