Author D’Ann Lindun Visits Harlie’s Books, Tells About Desert Heat, One of Her Hot Romantic Suspense Novels!

Desert Heat is one of the exciting novels by author D’Ann Lindun and we are lucky enough to have her visiting here with us today!  So read on and learn more, not only about Desert Heat but about the author herself!

Liberty Ann: Well D’Ann, we are so glad that you would take time to stop by and visit with us!

D’Ann:  Well it is my pleasure.

Liberty Ann:  So describe your writing style in 140 characters or less.

D’Ann:  Sparse. Sexy.

Liberty Ann:  ::chuckle:: Sounds like a perfect description. With that sparse, sexy style, what have you had published to-date?

D’Ann:  Four Romantic suspenses from Crimson—Wild Horses (June), Shot Through the Heart (August), Desert Heat (November), Cooper’s Redemption (March) and Vaquero from Siren-Bookstrand.

Liberty Ann:  Oh that ought to keep me busy for some time!   Do you recall the feelings you had when you saw your published book for the first time?

D’Ann:  Like the world stopped spinning. I had waited so long, it was like a miracle kind of.

Liberty Ann:  Oh I imagine so!  Now, do you have pieces of work that you think will never see light of day?

D’Ann:  Of course! Doesn’t everyone?

Liberty Ann:  ::giggles:: I guess so.  Is there a word, phrase or quote that is your favorite?

D’Ann:  Cowgirl up!

Liberty Ann:  Me too!  Must come from your home life and background. Did you imagine that writing and being published would fall into place for you the way it did?

D’Ann:  No. I wanted a traditional NY contract so badly I ignored e-publishing for far too long. Now that I’m there, I’m very happy!

Liberty Ann:   Sounds like things are turning out well then. If you couldn’t be an author, what would your ideal career be?

D’Ann:  A fashion photographer.

Liberty Ann:  A fashion photographer…cool!  Still very creative and artistic.  When you write, do you feel like you can you see parts of yourself in any of the characters?

D’Ann:  Always! But I’m not telling what part, you figure it out!

Liberty Ann:  Tease!  Now when it comes to marketing, what do you think is the hardest part and what is the most fun?

D’Ann:  All of it, and I find none of it fun. I find it tedious.

Liberty Ann:  I do not blame you.  I think you have to be born with the marketing gene. ::grin::  Do you manage to write every day?

D’Ann:  Almost. I have a PT job and carpal, so I can’t always manage, but I try!

Liberty Ann:  That is great.  What one person alive today would make you geek out if they emailed you to tell you that they absolutely loved your book?

D’Ann:  I don’t know, but on the Just RS blog Ruth Wind commented, and I about wet myself!

Liberty Ann:  That is pretty darn cool!  If you had to say what has been the toughest criticism or greatest compliment given to you as an author, what would it be?

D’Ann:  When I began, I was told I needed to go back to the 8th grade and learn grammar. It about killed me, but I did it. I got tough. I cowgirled up and I learned to write. Any compliment is the best!

Liberty Ann:  Wow!  That would about kill ya but good for you!  Okay, just a couple more questions, of a lighter flavor.  What is your favorite color?

D’Ann:  Dark green, like the forest.

Liberty Ann:  Mmmmm.  And name one food you would never eat.

D’Ann:  Sushi. Ugh. There are just some things I won’t put in my mouth! *wink*

Liberty Ann:   ::laughs:: Okay, so everyone has had a chance to see your awesomeness. Where can they go to snag their own copy of your novel?

D’Ann:  Oh you can pick one up at B and N, Amazon, OmniLit and other online and local retailers.

Liberty Ann:  Thank you for stopping by our little corner of the Web. We really wish you the best of everything.

D’Ann:  It has been my pleasure.

About Author D’Ann Lindun:

Falling in love with romance novels the summer before sixth grade, D’Ann Lindun never thought about writing one until many years later when she took a how-to class at her local college. She was hooked! She began writing and never looked back. Romance appeals to her because there’s just something so satisfying about writing a book guaranteed to have a happy ending. D’Ann’s particular favorites usually feature cowboys and the women who love them. This is probably because she draws inspiration from the area where she lives, Western Colorado, her husband of twenty-nine years and their daughter. Composites of their small farm, herd of horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland healer, nine ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in her stories!

About Desert Heat:

Mallory James doesn’t trust men. How could she when her own father abandoned her twenty-two years ago? Now, when she receives a phone call from a man claiming to have found the body of her father in the Arizona desert, Mallory has no way to find out the truth. For closure, she flies to Phoenix to claim the body.

Mike Malone has more trouble than he knows how to cope with. An environmental group, the Salt River Protection League has gotten an injunction that prevents his guest ranch from operating. Tired of the battle, his longtime girlfriend has left him, and his friends—all depending on him for their livelihood—are getting desperate. The last thing he needs is the body of desert rat, Skeeter James, in one of his vacant cabins. And Mike really doesn’t need a beautiful woman taking his mind off business.

The minute Mallory reaches the deserted guest ranch things seem odd. Mike’s friends aren’t welcoming, and one in particular, Diana, seems to want Mallory gone. A vial of gold and half a treasure map are the only legacy Skeeter leaves. Before she can have the burial, Mallory is lured into the desert, bucked off a horse sabotaged by a thorn under his saddle blanket and stalked. Although she is falling for Mike, she can’t love a man she can’t trust. At first, Mike is skeptical of Mallory’s claims, but as incidents begin to pile up, he is forced to admit someone is trying to hurt. But how can they stop what they don’t understand?

  1. Good interview! I totally understand the grammar issue and that was a hurtful way to be told you needed help, I too have issues with grammar but you just have to persevere and I’m glad you did. Congratulations on all of the books you published last year – hope 2013 is as productive for you. Desert Heat sounds really good!
